ABOUT WFP

Aiming to feed 13 million of the most vulnerable people with food assistance, WFP’s emergency response in Yemen is the agency’s largest anywhere in the world. WFP also provides nutrition support to 1.7 million children and mothers, and delivers school meals to 850,000 children each day.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), Regional Bureaux (RBs), and Headquarters (HQ). The Job holders report to a Head of the Unit, Chief or Information Technology Officer.These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), Regional Bureaux (RBs), and Headquarters (HQ). Job holders performing front office management functions typically report to the Division Director or Country Directors. In cases where these positions support a specific business stream, the reporting line may be to the Head of Unit or Chief.
At this level job holders are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with only general guidance. They have responsibility for undertaking specialised business support work, such as organisation and coordination of work. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen problems on a daily basis. Job holders are expected to manage resources, and coach and/or coordinate a team of support staff.

JOB PURPOSE

To collect, organise, and interpret statistical information to make it useful for a range of businesses and informed decisions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive) - Part 1

1. Write program code in order to support the development and implementation of efficient and effective IT solution components.
2. Keep up-to-date technical systems documentation for developed IT solutions in order to support systems maintenance. 
3. Perform unit and integrated testing of new, enhanced or fixed code in order to ensure completeness and adherence to technical specifications.
4. Assist in the installation, configuration and customization of IT systems ensuring compliance with WFP’s IT standards, guidelines and procedures. 
5. Assist in the release of IT systems and provide early life support in order to prepare for and enable proper use of the IT solution.
6. Resolve users queries independently, escalating if required, to ensure that standard IT questions are answered and accurate information is provided.
7. Assist in the preparation of materials and the delivery of trainings on automated business processes to ensure efficient and effective use of IT systems.
8. Collect and collate data, conduct basic analysis to support the development of accurate reports.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive) - Part 2

  • Collect, interpret data, analyse results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Plans for the delivery of the technical solutions and dashboards and improvements to methods and processes to meet operational requirements.
  • Develop customized dashboards and automated reports for the registration, distribution, and data quality check.
  • Analysis, maintenance, and cleansing of data when required to support the registration and distribution activities.
  • Provide support to the process of reconciliation and triangulation activities.
  • Provide support to users, log and analyse all requests for support in accordance with standard processes, to support staff to deliver their services.
  • Follow set emergency response processes and procedures as required to provide support in enabling emergency food assistance needs to be met.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. A degree in degree Information Technology, in statistics, mathematics or a related subject involving maths or related fields is desired.
Experience: Five or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the relative business stream with experience in general administrative work.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Arabic & English languages.

Nationality: Yemeni National / valid work/residency permit holders only.

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc).
  • Has solid experience with Tableau and PowerBI or any analytics tool.
