JOB SUMMARY

The position holder is expected to lead the community health component of the health care intervention within the target program locations. He/She will provide programmatic and technical oversight for community health volunteers and in coordination with the Community Health Officer and medical officer, ensure that community referrals are facilitated ensuring that needed services are reached by referred beneficiaries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision

  • Guide and manage community health volunteers within their respective catchment areas
  • Provide constructive feedback about community -based activities to the community health volunteers.
  • Ensure that the trained CHVs adhere to the national protocol for ICCM, using received medical and non-medical commodities in the conduct of their activities
  • Ensure that all CHVs adhere to the minimum safety standards for the prevention and control of COVID-19 within the community and nearby health facilities

Capacity Building

  • Responsible for his/her own personal and professional development by regularly attending learning opportunities online or face-to-face
  • Take lead in identifying professional and technical training needs for his/her team
  • Provide a site-specific training plan according to training needs assessments for health service providers in collaboration with relevant health authorities such as the GHO and DHO
  • Coordinate and organize relevant trainings for community health volunteers in consultation with the SPO and health program manager

Reporting to include Monitoring

  • Responsible for the accuracy and veracity of data submitted by the community health Volunteers
  • Ensure that data are summarized into field reports using data collected, providing relevant analysis and interpretation on morbidity trends taking into consideration contextual information
  • Review and complete relevant activity reports to include training, supervisory and site visit reports prior to submission to the field site coordinator and technical supervisor
  • Monitor and analyze data with the health program manager and his/her MEAL counterpart to flag possible data inconsistencies
  • Contribute in updating relevant reports with the information of activities associated with CHVs. These reports may include donor reports, monthly updates and ad hoc informational reports for other stakeholders including the GHO and MOPHP

Representation

  • Serves as the main contact point between IMC and the community through his/her participation with relevant community-based meetings relevant to community health
  • Represents IMC, in consultation with his/her SPO and health program manager during bilateral meetings with GHO/MOPHP or other relevant coordination mechanisms
  • appropriate beneficiaries and adequate follow up through his/her team is conducted. 

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse: Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

Compliance & Ethics: Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity. Communicates these values to staff and to partners and requires them to adhere to these values

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma in health-related profession preferred – nurse, medical doctor, dentist, pharmacist, midwife, medical assistant, medical technologist. Other qualifications maybe considered if the candidate has relevant experience working in community health
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience in health care setting
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in the field of community health
  • Work experience in health programs preferred
  • Previous experience working for an international NGO desirable but not essential
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Able to travel to project sites on a regular basis required
  • Familiarity of the health care system in Al dhale`e with previous work experience within the system desirable
  • Arabic and English-speaking skills essential
  • Arabic and English writing skills preferred
