Overall purpose of the role

Responsible for assisting in all procurement of goods and services, with a focus on warehousing activities, transportation of goods and people, vehicle fleet management, and general logistics support to the programme

Geographic scope: Country (Yemen)                                                                                                                         

This role has a country focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. The role contributes to the development of country strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to country operations while overseeing country activities.

Main responsibilities 

Support and administration

• Effective and efficient support to programs’ needs.

• Develop and maintain relevant data base including DRC Dynamics

• Weekly and monthly status reports 

• Oversite of all Warehouse Management, including reporting and alert mechanism to program staff.  

• Assist in recruitment, training and capacity building of the supply chain team

• Coordination of programme staff to ensure supply chain involvement in the whole project cycle

• Assist in the Procurement of all goods and services

• Support the establishment and follow up annual procurement plans

• Support the tracking of all orders, purchases and deliveries

• Ensure that all supply chain specific donor rules and policies are understood and respected

• Support Fleet Management activities in Yemen.

• Optimize all supply chain operations to increase cost effectiveness including setting up longer term supply contracts

• Supporting Fixed asset management activities

• Ensure DRC supplier due diligence is effective in the relevant context

• Correctly apply ERP- DRC Dynamics supply chain processes

• Assist with any other reasonable task as directed by the Supply Chain Manager

Essential qualification

• Relevant university degree in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management or equivalent professional qualification             
• Excellent skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Good proficiency in English

Languages: (indicate fluency level)

  • Good English language (written and spoken)
  • Excellent report writing skills including editing the work of others
  • Fluency in Arabic language (written and spoken)

Key stakeholders: (internal and external)

  • Fluency in Arabic is a required
  • Ability to communicate and write clearly in English
