Job Description

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate for the Protection projects with local authorities of the targeted governorates.
  • Ensure the implementation of all RDP’s protection activities at field level are according to the endorsed work plan (under the supervision of the Protection and Shelter Programs Officer) and adhering to the international standards.
  • Carry out regular field visits in the areas of responsibilities where persons of concerns are concentrated.
  •  Monitor the delivery of assistance, in the field, particularly for persons with specific protection needs and provide specific attention and services.
  •  Assist in exploring opportunities for mainstreaming persons of concern into available national services and contribute to developing communication strategies persons to promote these services.
  • Support community outreach meetings, participatory assessments and other mechanisms for consultations with persons of concern.
  • Contribute in mainstreaming age, gender and diversity in all of RPD’s activities.
  • Participate in conducting needs and programmatic assessments in targeted locations.
  • Track, document and follow up on complaints and feedback mechanism (CFM) during the implementation of protection activities.
  • Assist in supervising assessment teams during surveys, needs assessment and data collection for protection-related assessments.
  • Follow-up with humanitarian actors about requests and invitations for community sessions.
  • Monitor protection issues affecting IDPs and host communities in areas of RDP’s operation.
  • Coordinate and organize regular internal mapping of services available in the area of intervention.
  • Develop safe programming and conflict-sensitive approaches to the humanitarian response.
  • Support RDP Programs staff with preparing written protection updates for RDP situation reports.
  • Develop communication lines and close collaboration with the Health and Nutrition, FSL, WASH and Protection teams and contribute to coordinated humanitarian response.
  • Represent RDP at Protection Clusters/ Sub-clusters /Working Group and government meetings in targeted governorates.
  • Assist in producing gendered protection updates that will be included in field visit reports.
  • Provide regular analytical and statistical reports of activities carried out.
  • Compile and enter statistical data into the database on community services activities.
  • Prepare necessary activity and protection reports (weekly, monthly, ad hoc).
  • Participate in updating the mapping of services for threats and abuses (including GBV) that IDPs and Host Community members face in RDP areas of operation.
  • Management of the field protection incentive workers (team and work management).
  • Support and coordinate with MEAL department for baseline survey, post-distribution and other monitoring activities.
  • Support RDP teams to ensure MEAL processes are engendered and include protection to ensure learning and protection issues are captured.
  • Comply with RDP policies and practices with respect to child protection, code of conduct, child safeguarding, health and safety, equal opportunity and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • University degree in Psychology, Sociology, Law, Human rights or other related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experiences in a similar position.
  • Proficiency in English & Arabic is essential.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, etc.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations with the staff and other stakeholders.
  • Previous experience with NGOs.
