It has presence in 14 Governorates in Yemen responding to all areas of humanitarian sectors. ADRA Yemen is undertaking programs in Yemen in the fields of health, child protection, education, women's protection and empowerment, NFI and food distribution, cash assistance, and livelihoods programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding and coordination.

Summary:

Accounting manager will supervise track and evaluate day-to-day activities.  Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager supervises staff accountants and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable functions and other staff as assigned.
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare/coordinate ADRA Yemen tax filings
  • Make sure finance and account system maximize functions of Sun Plus system
  • Ensure all policies, procedures, processes, practices are in a central location for review/use by all finance/accounting staff and prepare internal reports and special projects, as required and prepare trainings relevant to areas supervised
  • Incumbent will monitor and enhance internal controls to minimize risk and oversee training and development of supervised staff
  • Automate and streamline processes to enhance accuracy of data while minimizing manual efforts
  • Other accounting and finance related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Review Sunplus excel uploads before posting to the systems.
  • Ensure account reconciliations are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Ensure monthly journal entries are prepared in a timely manner.
  • Review and approval of journal vouchers.
  • Assist in budgets preparation for new projects.
  • Ensure all outstanding vouchers/documents in bank reconciliations are cleared out in the following month.
  • Ensure Monthly Statutory payments (income tax, social security, etc.) and returns.
  • Responsible to prepare monthly allocation reports of shared costs such as office utilities, security costs, payroll, etc. to the projects.
  • Participate in all trainings proposed by ADRA Yemen to acquire more skills.
  • Assist auditors in their requests.
  • Prepare project financial statements after all posting is complete for review and submission.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Direct Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor degree is required /Master degree is preferable in Business with an emphasis in Accounting
  • Minimum of Five years prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area. Experience working in a law firm or professional services firm is preferred.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation a plus
  • Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation a plus
  • Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
  • Fluent English and Arabic (ideal) (written and verbal)
