Job title: Risk Education/NTS Assistant ( 7 Positions)

Location: Mokha, Taiz, with frequent travels to Hodeida, and occasional travels to Aden

Overall purpose of the role:

Provides technical support within Risk Education (RE) and Non-Technical Survey (NTS) teams; assist the RE and NTS teams in ensuring quality of the planning, implementation and follow up of RE and NTS activities

Responsibilities: (in bullet points)

  • Carry out daily risk education sessions for affected communities – with special focus on children on how to avoid harm from mines and UXO
  • Carry out non-technical surveys of suspected and confirmed hazardous areas
  • Contribute to the reporting requirements by keeping record of daily activities, by entering the information in the relevant data collection tools and as requested by line manager
  • Support the conduct of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) survey and other assessment when needed
  • Collect and compile information on mine/ERW survivors, include in reporting and ensure referrals are made timely to Protection department when relevant
  • Report on any newly discovered mine/ERW accidents, incidents, contaminated/suspected hazardous areas in the operation area, which are reported by local community members.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the line manager
  • Adhere to all SOPs and Safety regulations adopted by the organisation

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience (Risk Education and/or Non-Technical Survey an asset, education, facilitation, experience with children education/animation)
  • Experience in administrative tasks
  • Excellent knowledge of area of work (local community culture, administrative division, context, etc.)
  • Basic IT skills
  • Experience with following standard procedures and guidelines
  • Intermediate English proficiency, spoken and written
  • Fluency in Arabic, spoken and written
