Background Information: CCT Program

The SFD’s Conditional Cash Transfers Program (CCT) in Nutrition designed to respond to the urgent needs of the poorest families affected by the ongoing conflict and stimulate demand for nutrition, maternity and child services to improve the nutritional status of malnourished children and women in targeted areas using a complementary and integrated approach which includes a promotion, protection and resilience building. Since October 2016 the CCT program was able to support K296 women and children, provided health education sessions, monthly cash transfer, short-term employment in social services in nutrition for young females and facilitated access to the nutrition services and treatment.
Social Fund for Development is looking for talented and passionate candidates with high integrity to strengthen its capacity to respond urgently to the crisis with the right skills. In this regard, SFD is seeking to recruit committed, results-driven individual for the position of Communications Officer to be part of its CCT program team.


Under the overall guidance of the CCT Program and the direct supervision of the National Program Coordinator, the Communications Officer is responsible for the effective and efficient performance of the following duties:

  1. Collaborating with program team to develop and implement an effective communication plan based on our target audience.
  2. Ensuring timely implementation of activities related to the communication plan, monitoring and reporting on progress, taking appropriate follow-up actions, and analyzing the outcome.
  3. Developing and ensuring effective design and delivery of communication products including press releases, graphics, illustrations, logos and producing short films/video, photography of program activities;
  4. Generate donor-specific visibility content including, text, photos, videos and audio for use across a range of integrated online platforms, in order to support fund-raising activities.
  5. Manage the development and production of materials that effectively convey the desired message to targeted audiences. (e.g. collecting/producing photos, videos, reports, posters, briefing papers, brochures etc.), publications and promotional items for the CCT Program
  6. Overseeing the production of media-orientated communication products (editorial writing, news writing, proofing, pitching, etc.). Recommend appropriate information and communication materials for use in media and other communication activities
  7. Administering, regularly updating and improving the program's website, Facebook page and other social media channels with interesting stories, compelling facts and practical advice for visitors
  8. Liaise and interact with the program staff and other counterparts to support aligned activities and a coherent approach to communications within SFD.
  9. Responding to media inquiries and coordinating responses as needed with colleagues to ensure professionalism and message consistency.
  10. Regular monitoring and evaluation activities are undertaken according to the work plan to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country communication efforts. Ensure results and reports are prepared and shared on a timely basis.
  11. Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.

Required education, skills and qualities


University degree in communication, journalism, public relations, Marketing, Public Information, or closely related field.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive work experience in media relations, a digital newsroom, editorial production or journalism. sub-editing/copy editing experience strongly desired.
  • Practical experience with social media, multi-media and graphic design, developing, editing, overseeing layout of material, managing intranet and websites and preparation of high-level presentations is required
  • Experience working in the humanitarian or development sector or a related field

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of the communications approaches, tools, and methodologies essential to planning and executing effective strategies
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently to meet tight deadlines in and out of office hours and who can accomplish the tasks with little supervision
  • Knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.
    • Good presentation and written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic

    • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
    • Listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately
