DRC has been operating in the Middle East (ME) region for over a decade, running a combination of emergency, livelihood, protection and advocacy programmes through Country Offices (COs) in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey with a Regional Office (RO) in Amman.

Throughout its nine field offices and a workforce of 450 staff, DRC upholds its main programmatic objectives to provide immediate and life sustaining assistance, to strengthen the protective environment, and to reduce displacement related risks and vulnerabilities by promoting self-reliance at household and community level.
About the job
The CCCM Assistant is responsible for implementation of Camp Management (CCCM/SMC) activities in Abs and Al Zurah.
DRC Yemen is seeking a CCCM Assistant to carry out Camp Management activities in IDP sites in Abs and Al Zurah. This is a field based position with daily travel between IDP hosting sites.
Facilitating community participation:
- Establish & train community site committees ensuring that all groups are represented including women and the disabled
- Monitor sites to identify needs, gaps in service provision, and duplication of efforts at IDP sites
- Plan, support, and organize social cohesion building activities at IDP sites
- Identifying and implementing opportunities for community engagement and community ownership in site management
Population monitoring and data collection:
- Establish and maintain networks of key people in IDP sites
- Report site movement to designated DRC focal point
- Ensure the timely registration of IDPs, including identification of protection related needs
- Maintain a comprehensive database of service and needs related information for each site
- Draft weekly situation reports and provide other relevant information on site conditions and services
- Provide, document, and track timely referrals and service requests to key partners
- Conduct assessments and data collection exercises including supervising casual labour
- Support other teams in conducting multi-sectorial assessments of IDP needs
Representation of site management:
- Represent DRC with communities, local authorities, site partners, and other stakeholders
- Build and maintain mutually respectful relationships with service providers, local authorities, IDP community members as well as host community members
- Foster collaborative relationships with local authorities to facilitate implementation of activities
- Attend and facilitate meetings with stakeholders, such as local authorities, Clusters, NGOs, INGOs, UN and IDPs, including translation of meeting proceedings and provision of meeting minutes
Distribution, WASH and Shelter:
- Provide non-technical supervision and oversight of WASH and Shelter activities including assessments and beneficiary consultations
- Prepare for and conduct distributions in line with standard distribution procedures ensuring organized and safe distribution
- Support the CCCM team in organizing capacity building trainings for local authorities and partners
- Train site committees in site monitoring and use of DRC monitoring tools
- Actively participate in development and implementation of protection and gender mainstreaming
To be successful in this role you must have:
- Proven leadership skills and experience in managing relationships with various stakeholders at the community and district level
- Experience in collecting data in challenging environments
- Basic understanding of gender, protection, and human rights
- Strong communication skills and calm, mature attitude
- Strong team spirit and ability to work comfortably in multi-cultural contexts
- Good skills with basic software, such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to write reports in English
- Ability to spend extended periods of time in field conditions
- Ability to come up with innovative solutions to unexpected and challenging problems
- Humanitarian experience preferred.
Moreover we also expect the following:
- Required qualifications
University education preferred but not required Desirable qualifications
“Ideally, you will also have Advanced University degree”
- Arabic - Fluent, reading and writing
- Ability to communicate and write clearly in English is required
Contract length: 1 Year Contract.
Workplace: Abs with frequent travel Al-Zuhra district.
Start date: 01/01/2020
