About the job 

This role has an area focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the area. The HR Admin officer role contributes to the development of area strategies, which are translated into action plans and day- to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to DRC south operations. Developing and administering human resources plans and procedures that relate to DRC Human Resources Policies. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Conduct patrolling activities with the mobile team in kharaz and BEM. 
  • Organize the weekly movement planned of patrolling routes in Kharaz and BEM with the team and supervise 
  • Maintain the database of the project and ensure that the databases contain the main information of the migrants encountered, and the provided services of basic counselling, legal information, referrals and any kind of distributed assistance. 
  • Assist in referring cases which need for medical intervention to the local health facilities and other health service providers. 
  • Carry out patrol sessions and screening activities to migrants to profile and identify the protection needs and special need cases. 
  • conduct basic counselling to encounter migrants and provide legal information and briefed them with current situation. 
  • Translate from Amharic, Oromo to English and vice-versa between migrants and other team members to ensure the proper communication and the delivery of the assistance. 
  • Submit on a daily basis a list of encountered migrants. 
  • Assist in distributing assistance to migrants including meal vouchers, dignity kits and any other kind of assistance requested by the donor(s). 
  • Developing and maintaining a positive relationship with the team, local authorities/ community leaders. 
  • Support the Paramedic in prepare monthly/ weekly reports of identified and referred vulnerable cases. 
  • Entering data and assist in updating the database and assist in compiling it on monthly/weekly and share with team leader/protection specialist. 
  • Maintain accurate records regarding project implementation and provide weekly updates to the Protection team leader and / or Protection Specialist. 
  • Any other tasks as requested by the supervisor. 

About you 

To be successful in this role you must have: 

Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience) 

  • 2-3 years of experience working with international NGOs with migrants, particularly in protection sector. 
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with diverse members and groups including migrants, members of the local communities, local council members and local authorities etc. 
  • Experience in raising awareness and providing psychosocial counselling, and screening, organize work and provide assistance. 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in complex areas. 
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office, applications (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint). 
  • Excellent written and spoken English, Arabic. A female, fluent speaker of Oromo and Amharic is preferred

Required qualifications: 

Education : 

  • University degree preferably in Law, Human Rights, international Law or related. 

Languages: (indicate fluency level) 

  • Excellent written and spoken English. Fluent speaker of Oromo, Amharic and Somali is preferred 
  • Fluency in Arabic, and English 


  • Knowledge of using word and excel matrix. 

We offer 

DRC will offer the successful applicant a Four Months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. 

Work place Kharaz-Lahj with field visits. 

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment. This position will be placed at Band (H).
