Data Analyst: MHPSS Assessment

Position Objectives:

PURPOSE OF THE ASSESSMENT

To determine perceived mental health and psychosocial needs among conflict affected and displaced populations in Aden, Lahj and Taiz governorates, as well as identified coping and support mechanisms (both formal and informal) within the community in order to inform MHPSS programming and humanitarian response.

DATA ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT

This particular ToR is specifically seeking for a data analyst to analyze the collected qualitative and quantitative data and write a comprehensive report for publication. The assessment is being conducted in two phases were the first phase was conducted in April 2019 (report for the first phase already in place) and data for the second phase will be collected by the 29th of February. The consultant should be able to develop appropriate coding schemes and summarize the findings into a comprehensive report that can be published.  This particular assignment is specifically seeking for a data analyst to analyze the collected qualitative and quantitative data and write a comprehensive report for publication. Primary data for the second phase will be collected by the 29th of February. The consultant should be able to develop appropriate coding schemes and summarize the findings into a comprehensive report. Data Analysis should be completed by 30th of March 2019. This work is expected to take a maximum of 15 working days to complete. A final timeline will be determined jointly by the assessment steering committee and the consultant.

**The Final Report on the children's mental health and psycho-social well-being should capture the following contents:

  • Findings from phase 1 of the process that included the context analysis on MHPSS services in Yemen, desk review and In-depth interviews conducted in April 2019.
  • An analysis of national and local services for mental health services, support service providers at community, national and/ or international level in the supported areas on MHPSS.
  • The impacts of psychosocial distress on children and caregivers
  • Perceived barriers to access to services for children in need of MHPSS services.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Academic/ professional qualification at post-graduate level or equivalent in Psychology or clinical social work
  • A good command of statistical packages such as SPSS, STATA, R or similar packages.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic will be an added advantage

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience in delivering high quality humanitarian MHPSS programmes.
  • Proven track record in assessments and analyzing data from MHPSS and/ or child protection.
  • Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data
  • come up with recommendations for an appropriate response
  • Great attention to detail and presentation of research findings
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels, taking into account cultural and language difficulties.
