Search has been working in Yemen since 2010 tpromote social cohesion through work with youth, media, and women’s groups across the country. Search Yemen is seeking highly qualified individuals for the following position: 

Purpose

The Legal Counsel service is critical tSFCG programming operations in Yemen. The successful candidate is expected tbe qualified and possess relevant license, legal documents, experience, and knowledge. The Lawyer will be responsible tcarry out all legal advice and counseling work. The successful candidate will support SFCG’s operations in a legal capacity. Work will primarily involve advising SFCG’s Yemen office in a diverse range of legal and contractual matters, as well as on legal risk in the context of our operations and programming work, procurement, awards, finance, and HR. 
The successful candidate will alsassess SFCG operations, contracts, procedures and provide legal and counseling advice tthe senior management team on matters of potential legal risks and take the lead  on managing contractual and legal risk-related and will represent SFCG with government entities or any  third party on legal matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise and support on the legal issues affecting SFCG operations in Yemen, and has the information necessary tproperly evaluate and manage legal risk.
• Responsible for keeping SFCG aware of legal and regulatory developments that may impact its operations and make sure that SFCG is prepared trespond or change its behavior, systems or processes accordingly.Make sure staff and related third- party contracted individuals and agents understand SFCG’s legal policies and are aware of the key external legal and regulatory requirements applicable to activities for which they are responsible
• Provide appropriate legal and corporate governance advice tSFCG.
• Ensure that SFCG understands its contractual commitments and is well advised on how to protect and promote its interests contractually.
• Assure SFCG is well positioned timplement its purpose and its new strategy.

Personal Specifications

• University Degree in Law, Human Rights, International Law, or related field.
• Experience of not less than five years in the same field.
• Experience working with international non- governmental organizations.
• Ability twork effectively as part of a team.
• Processing all necessary legal documents.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong writing and reporting skills.
• Strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability twork both independently and within a team.
• Professional English desired and preferred but not mandatory.
