Job Description

CARE International is currently seeking For Warehouse Keeper - Medical reports to the Logistics Officer and receives technical guidance from the program support office and work closely with health team. He/she responsible for receiving, storing and distributing medical materials and supplies in the CARE warehouse.

Warehouse Keeper – Medical

Location: Aden        

Main Responsibilities:

Warehouse Management and Logistic Support:

  • Ensure availability of storage space and maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse at all times.
  • Keep and monitor proper cool chain conditions in the warehouse.
  • Ensuring adequate preparedness before any loading/offloading commences by securing all necessary numbers of laborers, equipment, and relevant documentation.
  • Supervise laborers to ensure that stacking /de-stacking is done systematically by layers to facilitate counting and control over stocks.
  • Count each and every bag / box /carton / or any other packaging unit for medical items being offloaded from a truck.
  • Count each and every bag/box/carton/ or any other packaging unit for medical items being loaded onto a truck from a stack.
  • Promote and enforce quality control at loading /offloading point by ensuring all damaged commodities are not loaded onto trucks and that all damaged medicals receipts are separated from sound ones and immediately reported to the relevant supervisor.
  • Conduct packages assembling based on program work plan for distribution.
  • Ensure all precautions are taken to minimize stock loss/damage through proper handling and enforcement of use suitable materials such as pallets by all transporters.
  • Immediately report losses, damages or discrepancies
  • Execute necessary transport, shipping, requisitions, inventory, monitoring and other logistics tasks in strong coordination with CARE’s and donor procedures and policies.
  • Ensure that only authorized staff are allowed to enter the warehouse and receive supplies or materials. 

Coordination and Reporting: 

  • Prepare periodic stock reports and assist in carrying out periodic inventory audits.
  • With regard medical items to complete a Tally Sheet and associated documentation for every truck loaded/off-loaded and make all necessary cross-references to relevant documentation.
  • Account for any transaction on a stack assigned and ensure all transactions are documented and assigned to the relevant stacks after every stock movement.
  • Ensure good stacking of all medical items under their control that facilitates physical inventory count
  • Supervise the reconditioning/reconstitution of all damaged boxes/cartons, etc. and ensure all reconstituted medical is re-stacked by close of business.
  • Arrange with health program team for the distribution plans and resale of items. 

Asset Management:

  • Maintain regular and comprehensive asset inventory.
  • Provide regular reports of assets sheet and contract work.
  • Immediately report losses, damages or discrepancies. 

CARE Policies and Procedures Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to CARE’s Safety and Security policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to CARE and donor procurement policies and procedures, and to be in contact with CO for procurement support. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 

Education/Training

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacology or related field.
  • Strong medical administrative and time-management skills.
  • Solid understanding of the theory and practice of transportation management.
  • 2-year experience from working as a medical warehouse Clerk/Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  •  Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Warehouse management and good knowledge of medicals rules policies and procedures in the area of work is an advantage.
  • Good computer skill with a full knowledge of office applications.
  • Good written and spoken English skills.
