BFD is a leading humanitarian-based and development-oriented organization, which over the years extended its coverage to several governorates, with a mission of working in a humane and transparent manner for the vulnerable groups in society and the affected groups through the implementation of sustainable development and relief programs of the highest quality.  Responding to all areas of humanitarian sectors, BFD aspires to provide an integrated humanitarian and development response to conflict-affected areas through a professional, neutral, transparent approach, and through adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS).
    
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

MAIN PURPOSE:
The FFT Project Officer will be responsible for the designing, planning, and results-based implementation of FFT/Livelihood activities at the field level. The FFT Officer will work along with the team members and will be responsible to coordinate and establish the linkages amongst all the project team members, groups, stakeholders, line agencies. The Livelihood Officer will provide timely, accurate, reports to the project manager.
 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Implementation:

  • Ensure that training components and activities are implemented as outlined in the various project proposals and budgets, in accordance with concerned policies and regulations.
  • Take Lead in conducting research on value chain assessment for Urban products, food transformation preservation, and organize training sessions for the relevant stakeholders.
  • Using a niche market assessment, identify potential support for vocational training and coordinate with the government and private organizations to hire trainers and implement the training.
  • Responsible for identifying the needs, challenges, and opportunities amongst beneficiaries and their business ideas, and organizing groups and training to address the relevant topics;
  • Plan and provide the expertise and support during the training of beneficiaries on technical skills, Marketing, business plan, Entrepreneurship financial resources, and risk management.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation on all project training and trainers to ensure that the focus, strategies, and activities remain relevant for the beneficiaries and to propose adjustments when needed.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with project stakeholders regarding the project progress and challenges.
  • Work as a team player providing relevant assistance to colleagues and ensuring that project components, for which he/she is responsible, are interlinked.
  • Ensure to take and maintain minutes of meetings; accurately draft and provide training or workshop summaries/reports.
  • Produce monthly progress reports and provide inputs to coordinate with the Business to develop extensive plans for training.
  • Coordinate the implementation and operations of Business-related activities in the FFT Project, ensuring involvement of all relevant stakeholders’ units at the Business plan preparation.
  • Support the budgeting, planning, and deployment of marketing strategy and business plan.
  • Build and nurture relationships with the FFT business counterparts to understand and anticipate the direction of the business and ensure alignment of provider’s solutions with changing business requirements and priorities.
  • Communicate business objectives, requirements, and process flow, to ensure common understanding and prioritization between stakeholders for their smooth implementation.
  • Ensure the provision of enhanced business intelligence (BI)/analytics to support decision-making and risk mitigation measures, including the development and delivery of standardized dashboards and reports.
  • Actively coordinating with stakeholders to help identify master trainers in certain technical disciplines.
  • Participate in the elaboration of the project: needs assessments, baseline survey, and proposal of actions.
  • Provide field reports on a weekly basis that have details of the daily activities, people met, and so forth.

Monitoring and reporting of field-based activities

  • Ensure that all project data, information on physical and financial progress are duly maintained transparently, expediently, and effectively in line with BFD rules and regulations;
  • Plan, coordinate, and organize regularly joint monitoring of the livelihood specific activities in the field; 
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of the activities, and other required reports, as per the requirements of BFD.

Health and Safety

  • The post holder must at all times carry out his responsibilities with due regard to the BFD policy, organization and arrangements for Health and Safety at Work.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Economics, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or any other field relevant to development.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of previous experience in food security, Livelihoods, agricultural, and business development work.
  • Proven experience in integrating different components of resources management in line with community development, livelihood resiliency development;
  • Previous experience with similar INGO/NGO projects will be an asset;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the links between sustainable development, 
  • community development, social and gender issues;
  • Experience with project development and results-based management methodologies is highly desired/required;
  • Excellent analytical, writing, advocacy, presentation, and communications skills;
  • Experience in program design, monitoring, and evaluation is an asset
  • Good computer skills, particularly in Word and Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet.  

Language Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of English, fluency in the language of the duty station. Diplomatic communication and ability to build a strong network. 
  • Excellent language skills in English (writing, speaking, and reading) and in local languages.

  • A sense of creativity is essential.
  • Demonstrated attention to activity tracking detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members is required.
  • Talent for organizing and cataloging information is essential.
  • Conscientious, with an excellent sense of judgment.

  • Ability to interact well with people and proven experience of building strong relationships with community members 
  • A confident, flexible, and initiative-taking attitude with the ability to work independently, to be proactive in working with others, a willingness and commitment to work long hours and/or over weekends, and to spend a considerable amount of time in remote field sites.
  • Understanding of and commitment to safeguarding, child safety, and protection from sexual abuse and exploitation principles.

Core Humanitarian Standards (CHs): The BFD workers must adhere to Humanitarian standards the values and principles outlined in BFD policy - Standards for Professional Conduct. These are Integrity, Service, Accountability and Equity. In accordance with these values, the BFD Employee and enforces policies on Code of Conduct from Exploitation and Abuse, Child Safeguarding, Anti Workplace Harassment, Fiscal Integrity Anti-Retaliation
