The Job

Action Contre la Faim (ACF), is an International Humanitarian Organization which is private, non-political, non-denomination and non-profit making. Action Contre la Faim vocation is to save lives by combating hunger, disease and those crises threatening the lives of vulnerable men, women and children. ACF currently operates in 46 countries globally and conduct programs in nutrition, food security, health, water and sanitation.

Positions: One
Assignement: Manage the cashbox and assist Base Finance administrator on accounting and administrative activities in Aden

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mission 1: Management of cashbooks on Aden
The Cashier is responsible for the cashbox management of Aden including: recording all cash transactions, holding the cashbook updated

Activities:

  • Receive and check the eligibility of invoices submitted for payment (compliance with purchase voucher, required information)
  • Check accuracy and consistency of purchase documentation and validation before releasing payment
  • Register cash transfers, advances and payments as per authorized documents signed by the proper person.
  • Manage advances as per ACF procedure
  • Provide timely cash request to maintain at all-time accurate level of cash in the cashbox
  • Assist the Finance Technician in the bank book management if required
  • Inform line manager on any irregularities in finance procedures, improper invoices, any discrepancy on the supporting documents
  • Visit on a regular basis field offices to process direct payments, salaries to non-ACf staff, clearance of pending/open advances etc

Mission 2: Support the base and finance department in accounting activities

The Cashier is responsible for facilitating the base monthly accounting closure and the proper storing of all Aden finance and administrative documents as per ACF financial and administrative procedures

Activities :

  • Translate accounting documents
  • Codify and file invoices and finance documentation according to Finance procedures
  • Ensure double counting of the cash box is done last day of each month and Cash count template is signed
  • Ensure that all transactions are recorded in the base books and supported by proper documentations
  • Prepare the monthly accounting bundle of the base
  • Keep at all-time the finance archiving of the base up-to-date

Mission 3: Support to base Finance administrator in any administrative activities

The Cashier is responsible for bringing support in relation with different partners

Activities:

  • Upon request, liaise with bank for transactions, local administrations (tax office, SS …etc.)
  • Support on elaboration of monthly treasury forecast (if necessary liaise with other departments to obtain the necessary information)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in Business Administration or Accounting;
  • At least two years of professional experience in a similar position;
  • Good command of English (written, read, and spoken);
  • Good computer skills (MS Word and MS Excel);
  • Able to work under pressure;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Excellent, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Experience and willingness to travel to field offices;
  • Relevant NGO experience is a pre.
