Position: Staff Wellbeing and Mental Health Consultant (Female)

Location: Yemen CO

Contract Length: 6 months (renewable) based on good performance and need.

The Opportunity:

Child Safeguarding: Level 3:  the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

Role Purpose: The consultant will be working closely with the ER & Learning and Development Coordinator and the HR director to ensure the Yemen country office provides an adequate mental health counselling services to the staff with high confidentiality and timely support.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Provide - confidential psychological first aid for staff and families requiring immediate psychological or emotional support.
  • Provide confidential short-term individual and group counselling sessions to staff members upon request. Provide family counseling to address family and social problems, especially children's problem (if required).
  • Provide technical support and advice to management with regards to critical incident response and provide immediate support to staff members who are exposed to critical situations.
  • Providing telephone counseling & psychological support services through hotline.
  • Confidentially refer staff members to specialized mental health services if and as required.
  • All mental health supports should conform to the highest standards of privacy and confidentiality.
  • Design, develop and roll-out a range of general and context specific group sessions related to strengthening resilience, conflict resolution, team-building and cultural sensitivities to improve morale, health, and team dynamics.
  • Providing public awareness and private consultations through social media.
  • Conduct frequent field visit, minimum two field visits for each field site per the contract period.
  • The consultant will provide a monthly/quarterly/ yearly detailed reports on the progress of the work, whilst maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality with regards to the staff members receiving counselling or mental health supports.
  • The consultant should make sure not to prescribe any medicine.
  • Ensure all meetings and interviews with staff or family is confidential. Any leakage of personal information will lead to an immediate termination of the contract.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced University Degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in Clinical Psychology or counselling.
  • Experience in providing MHPSS training proven experience as a Counselor or psychologist in the direct provision of counseling and -psychosocial support services to adults and children.
  • Flexibility to provide support even after working hours or in weekends.
  • English language fluency is desirable.
