Job Description
Position: Protection Officer in the Mobile Teams
Location: Taiz – Al-Huban
Reports to: Project Manager
Duration: 9 months renewable based on fund availability and performance

SUMMARY:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Project manager, the Mobile Protection Officer will be responsible for the implementation of Protection Activities, delivering continuous technical support, performing monitoring and evaluation of the quality of work, and capacity building of staff who s/he will be working within integrated protection activity guarantee the proper functioning and SOP of protection band the referral Policy in the project by following up the project goals and ensure effective performance and response, conduct rapid protection assessment; ensuring rapidity of response; determine the scale of assistance and timely delivery of protection activities. She/he will work with Mobile team staff and mainstream protection with other sectors of the project by building capacity, increasing community engagement, and strengthening mechanisms for self-protection by communities.
Protection Officer in the Mobile Teams will be responsible but not limited to:
- Plan and timely implementation protection response and ensure daily quality implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of integrated protection project interventions and activities according to the project plan;
- Undertake timely rapid needs assessments in new areas with a greater focus on protection; produce and disseminate assessment reports in a timely manner;
- Supervise the team for data collection and entry, conduct quality checks, and triangulate information to ensure veracity and reliability of data
- Carries out regular field visits to provide technical support for implementation activities and monitor project progress, advising for the staff as per need.
- Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality for all case-related information; protect the identities of clients in the design and implementation of all activities;
- Provide ongoing protection analysis (including aspects of conflict analysis, gender, and risk management) and lessons learned from project experience to inform the project manager, and program managers in improved program development, implementation;
- Follow up the Referring cases that need to appropriate services and ensure post referral follow up.
- Developing and updating a database of service providers in the areas of the organization's actions and strengthening relations with them.
- Builds and maintain good relationships with relevant agencies and service providers.
- Refreshes list of contacts and service mapping provided project and other partner.
- Active participation in periodic meetings and meetings in the organization as well in the protection cluster meetings
- Ensure proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies) .
- Write monthly, weekly and regular field visit reports, rapid needs assessment reports, and success stories reflects impact of assistance, providing clear operational recommendations for intervention on major findings, needs and problems faced.
- Ensure adequate project monitoring systems and evaluation procedures are in place applying appropriate tools in order to collect and update all progress indicators for the protection activities.
- Ensure compliance with and international policy, procedures and practices throughout emergency response activities, including adherence to Do No Harm principles.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- University degree in social sciences or any related field
- Experience in protection program design and implementation (minimum 1 year)- including but not limited to rapid protection assessments, protection monitoring, identifying and providing assistance to Persons with Special Needs, and establishing community-based protection approaches;
- Fluent in Arabic and English (speaking, reading, writing).
- Strong knowledge and skills of computer and prior experience working with smart data collection tools such as KOBO, and respect confidentiality of data and information
- Show diplomacy, good communication and has good interpersonal skills.
- Able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities able to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills and good ability to make proactive suggestions,
- Strong representation and negotiation skills, demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, strong communication and diplomatic skills
- Analytical skills, observation and analysis capacity
