Job Description

Save the Children in Yemen is looking for eligible candidates for the position of

MEAL Volunteers – Ibb

ROLE PURPOSE:  

The purpose of this role is to provide essential support to Save the Children’s programs focusing on the development and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning systems.
The incumbent will work very closely with the MEAL Unit as well as all concerned project staff and project beneficiaries in establishing accountability mechanisms.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Program Activity Support

  • Assist in conducting MEAL Activities; SCI’s assessments, verifications, DDMs, PDMs,baseline, end-line and perform other related duties that requires significant data collection.
  • Conduct field monitoring visits to the projects sites to assess progress, identify challenges, gathers feedback from the beneficiaries and submit a detail visit report about the activities to the MEAL Assistant along with the corrected actions.
  • Participate in community outreach activities such as review program brochures, leaflets, awareness materials and FRM mechanisms. 
  • Identify and report key emerging issues from field monitoring, any social issues affecting children or young, girls and women in general and any other related issues in the field, including outbreaks, malnutrition etc.
  • Production of high quality Field Visit reports in a timely manner.
  • Any other tasks as requested by the line management.

Data Entry and Management

  • Compile and enter beneficiary and project information into databases from regularly collected.
  • Format and clean data collected and entered, highlight inconsistencies or errors in data collection.
  • Provide easy to read information with proper formatting and consolidation of data.
  • Create and maintain numerous Excel databases for different types of projects (distributions, trainings, etc).
  • Entering data collected from source documents within time limits to the Kobo system.
  • Support data analysis and quality checking needs that may arise.
  • Any other tasks as requested by the line management.

QUALIFICATIONS      

  • Bachelor Degree in information technology, statistics, IT, social science or other discipline relevant to MEAL.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • At least one year work experience, with NGO is preferred.
  • Fluent in Arabic language and good knowledge at English.
  • Advanced understanding of Excel databases and data entry and ability to design Excel databases and data analysis.
  • Good computer skills, with good typing skills in English and Arabic and knowledge of Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data management.
  • At least one year experiences of working in community mobilization, social and field unit.
  • Good organisational skills, the ability to pay close attention to detail and capable of reporting in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to interact well with people (including children) and proven experience of building strong relationships with community members
  • A confident, flexible and initiative-taking attitude with the ability to work independently, to be proactive in working with others, a willingness and commitment to work long hours and/or over weekends and to spend considerable amount of time in remote field sites.
