Position Title: IT Assistant
Position End Date: December 2023 renewable depending on performance and budget availability.
Duty Station: Aden Office with Frequent Travel to the Field)    
Reports To: Procurement Coordinator
Technical Supervisor: Regional ICT Field Systems Analyst (based at IHQ)
Ref: HR22/015

Job Summary

He/She will be responsible for the effective and timely maintenance and support of all Information and Communication Technology for Samaritan’s Purse (SP) Yemen as well as ensuring security of mission critical data. He/She will be responsible for training Yemen’s office staff on the proper use and maintenance of the ICT equipment assigned to them in accordance with Samaritan’s Purse standards. He/She will assist the Samaritan’s Purse Yemen Offices and the ICT Team based at our International Headquarters in planning for future ICT needs. He/She will also support in procurement of program materials and supplies. He/She support the Logistics Officer in logistics activities that will facilitate programs, Logistics and operational activities which may include procurements, warehouse operations, market research, and procurement tracking. 
He/She will conduct themselves in accordance with the Samaritan’s Purse International Relief field operating guides, manuals, policies, procedures and guidelines at all times.

Key Responsibilities

1)    Manage, maintain, and support Yemen’s ICT equipment and collaborate with local service and equipment providers. The equipment can include laptops, printers, scanners, copiers, wireless and wired networks, point-to-point connections and any other ICT equipment that the Samaritan’s Purse Yemen office acquires.
2)    Ensure proper data handling of mission critical and legally required auditable data as needed is taking place.
3)    Ensure secure access to confidential data as required by local law, Samaritan’s Purse Management, and/or IHQ is being maintained.
4)    Maintain awareness of local legal ICT requirements and ensure reasonable compliance of Samaritan’s Purse with the same.
5)    Ensure and maintain stable Internet connection(s) for each site that requires one.
6)    Assist and support Yemen staff in the use of ICT equipment and assist employees with the setup of email accounts.
7)    Train staff on the use of software and equipment (Microsoft Office, shared folders, radios, etc.).
8)    Provide the Regional ICT Field Systems Analyst with weekly status updates, in addition to any in-country reporting requirements (to be determined by supervisor).
9)    Utilize the Regional Samaritan’s Purse support system (Jira) to track all support needs. 
10)    Review PR’s and understand the technical aspects of what has been requested.
11)    Be able to differentiate between good quality and poor-quality materials/supplies.
12)    Review vendors, focusing on suppliers of key items.
13)    Develop vendor relations with multiple providers.
14)    Understanding and performing compliant and accurate documentation involving cash for all types of procurement activities.
15)    Assist in conducting periodic checks of transactions and documents to ensure accurate and compliant standards are upheld for all areas of logistics.
16)    Assist in loading and unloading of cargo.
17)    Able to maintain self-control and respectful attitude while working thru difficult situations.
18)    Perform any other duty that may be assigned by their supervisor and/or the technical advisor. 
19)    Willing to travel as required by Operations Manager and Country Director.

Education / Experience Needed

  • An advanced diploma (university degree or higher) in IT or a similar field of study is preferred. 
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with International NGOs, preferably as an IT assistant, base, fleet, or in logistics capacity, with the ability to meet set targets/deadlines and perform well in a demanding work environment.

LANGUAGE  

  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English are required, including technical ICT terms.
