Action Contre la Faim currently operates in 46 countries globally and conduct programs in nutrition, food security, health, water and sanitation.

Security and Liaison Assistant

Location: Hodeida

Duration: 12 Months

Assignment:

  1. Provide regular updates to Security Manager on safety & security issues.
  2. Coordinate /follow-up with relevant government department, law enforcement agencies, communities, tribal leaders, in case of any issue including security incidents and accidents.

Information Management

Activities:

  1. Information collection related to security situation in the area
  2. Translate security related documents from English to Arabic
  3. Compile a daily news brief with news related to Hodeida / Hajjah  and adjacent districts/Governorates 
  4. Conduct the security (including road & access) assessment in the areas where ACF is implementing the projects / prior to implementation
  5. Conduct security assessment of areas prior to expat visits 

Coordination

Activities:

  1. Support Security Mgr in establishing good / effective relationship with governorate, district authorities, communities and tribal leaders
  2. Conduct awareness sessions for communities on ACF background and work whenever requested by Security Manager (based on request from program teams)
  3. Under supervision of Security Mgr, Coordinate /follow-up with relevant government department, law enforcement agencies, communities, tribal leaders, in case of any issue related to security incidents /accidents

Manage the Safety & Security:

Activities:

  1. To ensure that security / safety rules are followed by all staff during working time and use of ACF premises / facilities
  2. Supervise follow-up the daily movement of field staff by Phone Operator
  3. Implementation of security / safety rules (first aid kits, firefighting equipment etc.) in collaboration with logistics department
  4. Make recommendations to  Security Manager on safety / security measures that need to be taken around ACF premises
  5. Assist Security Manager  and Field Coordinator in updating of security plan and other security documents

Team management

Activities:

  1. Supervise ACF watchmen
  2. Supervise Phone Operator

Reporting

  1. Contribute to  weekly / monthly security updates/ reports which will be compiled by Security Mgr
  2. Collect and provide information to Security Manager for  Incident reporting (4 Hours & 72 Hours)
  3. Contribute to Safety & Security assessment reports (Field / Premises)

Other

  1. In absence of Security Manager, participate in internal and external meetings (relevant) for providing security briefing
  2. Any task assigned by Security Manager within domain of safety, security and liaising

QUALIFICATIONS / BACKGROUND

  • University Degree in social sciences preferably in Political Science,  + 2 years of experience in field of Liaison and Security / safety Management
