Job Description

Position: Vocational Training Coordinator

Location: Sana'a, Yemen

Reports to: Program Director

Duration: till 31.01.2023; Renewable based on performance and fund availability.‎

AKF's goal is to improve Yemeni society's reality, and we are interested in supporting long-term and comprehensive development paths by implementing emergency, recovery, and development programs that target multiple segments of society, with a focus on gender.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Vocational Training / Economic Empowerment Coordinator will dedicate 100% of his/her time to leading, coordinating, and ensuring the high-quality implementation of all Vocational Training Project activities in Amanat Al-Asimah, as well as management of day-to-day field activities and ensuring timely reporting and compliance with donor rules and regulations. The Vocational Training Coordinator will participate in strengthen relationships with partners in program targeted areas. He/She will play a key role in representing AKF at National and Hub/sub-cluster meetings, workshops and technical working groups meetings in areas of assignment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and implement (activities, budget, and project documentation) as delegated from PM in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, and ensure high technical quality.
  • Manage the project interventions in all intervention areas. Responsible for project planning, reporting, and budget management
  • Develop work plans, reporting mechanisms and training plan using the project-monitoring tool.
  • Frequent field supervision
  • Put plan and the mechanism for beneficiary selection process based on the criteria set by the project.
  • Attend meetings relevant to the project
  • Works with the M&E team to implement and maintain prescribed reporting systems to monitor and evaluate the objectives, indicators and outcomes and ensure accurate and timely data collection at the field level
  • Provide technical guidance on the overall strategy for project design and management
  • Follow up the support department to guarantee the smooth running of activities that include movement planning, internal request, payments, HR, etc.
  • Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
  • Prepare and submit regular reports (progress and final)
  • Capture lessons learnt from monitoring and evaluations, document success stories, and replicate successful projects and scale up.
  • Lead the Conduction of rapid assessment
  • Identify the target locations for integrated sectors interventions.
  • Identify vulnerable population and select target beneficiaries according to the donor criteria
  • Assist sub agreements and other project related documentation (including translation).
  • Maintain open lines of communications with all field staff and beneficiaries.                                                                        
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
  • Lead the prose of design and print material and banners.
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the foundation.
  • This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and the employee will also perform other related tasks as required and responsible for reporting and communication of progress and achievement of the specific assigned task including field visits to supervise, implement project activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • S/he has to have bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 2 years of experience working as project coordinator in local or international NGOs.
  • Familiarity with design and programming processes of different donors.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Skills in technical report writing, designing and implementing projects.
  • Must have excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • Accountability is required to develop and achieve activities.
