Through its comprehensive programming ACTED has been covering the full continuum of emergency, rehabilitation and development in Yemen. Emergency activities have focused in the sectors of Agriculture & Food Security (e.g. distribution of crop seeds, and livestock), Economic Recovery and Market Systems (e.g. income-generating activities such as cash for work), and WASH (e.g. rehabilitation of water supply facilities, hygiene promotion). ACTED’s food security activities include distribution of food vouchers, which are a key component of ACTED’s interventions in Hodeidah.
ACTED Organization is pleased to announce the below job vacancy with the following details:

Specifications:

  • Position: Field Assistants (6)
  • Department: Program
  • Under authority of: WASH Engineer/WASH Officer, Project Manager
  • Internal Relations: Program staff, support staff
  • Location: Raymah
  • Contract Type: Fixed term
  • Contract Duration: 3 months

Responsibilities:

  • Following up the works implementation for the water point or rehabilitation Canals (CFW) according to the instructions from field engineer / WASH officer and BoQs.
  • Follow up the works implemented from contractors especially the construction and installation work to be according to the Technical studies timeline plans of work and according to of BOQs and drawings for the project too with non-violation.
  • Follow up and monitoring the quality and quantity of materials which supplying from contractors.
  • Monitoring tools and materials stores in the field and monitoring the quality of the work.
  • Follow up and monitoring the CFW skilled and unskilled labors attendance sheets and ensuring approved the attendance sheets from the Community committee/maintenance committee.
  • Provide advice to contractors/suppliers to ensure achievements on time based on technical criteria.
  • Provide technical advisory for skilled workers during the activity implementation.
  • Documentation works, taking photos before and after works implementation.
  • Preparing the achievement report for the contractors and 
  • Reporting: weekly and monthly reports.
  • Report, in a timely manner, any issues causing a change or delay to the planned work.
  •  Any additional reports, forms or documents asked by ACTED Field Engineers or WASH project officer.

General

  • Report and clarify any work-related issues and challenges to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Respect time including working, meetings, deadlines and other reasonable requests.
  • Commit to honest, high-quality work in the field.
  • Undertake any other tasks as reasonably assigned by management.
  • Consider safety and security in the field, and immediately report all incidents to the direct supervisor.

Reports and documents required:

  • Reports of achievement of daily, weekly and closing to WASH/Field Engineers and project management.
  • Submission of photographs showing employment in the project and implemented all of the periods of the completion of the 5 days copied in (CD).
  •  Documenting the project (Reports + pictures and video), which operates the project shows the mechanism of the program.
  • Gather construction work information and edit the work plan report every week.
  • Ensure gather GPS points of sites of intervention, to be provided to database assistant
  • Proper filling in of project documents according to the donor and ACTED procedures, with support for the Compliance Officer based at the base
  • Report, in a timely manner, any issues causing a change or delay to the planned work.
  • Any additional reports, forms or documents asked by ACTED WASH Engineers or project management

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant subject
  • Good communication skills with the host communities and Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs).
  • Knowledge of designing water and sanitation systems.
  • Experience in conducting training.
  • At least one year of experience in WASH and CFW related activities.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Sensitive to gender issues and Gender Equity and Diversity (GED) principles.
