Mental health and care practices deputy program manager – Psychologist

Location:  Aden.

Number of Positions: 1 position .

Assignments :

  • Provide technical support to project staff, supervise, and train the team of Care Practice Officers, and carry out evaluations
  • Ensure quality implementation of planned activities
  • Participate in capacity-building of ACF staff on care practices

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Objective 1: Provide technical support for the care practices.

Activities:

  • Provide technical support, supervise, and evaluate the work of the Care Practice Officers
  • Proofread, edit, and approve reports of Care Practice Officers and help write monthly internal report (narrative and quantitative)
  • Work with Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) department to ensure databases are capturing relevant information
  • Feedback technical suggestions to the Mental Health and Care Practices (MHCP) Head of Department (HoD) via the Nutrition Programme Manager
  • Gather information from the field staff regarding inputs into technical documentation such as proposals, trainings, and guidelines

Objective 2: Participate in the management of the care practices staff members and MoPHP supervision

Activities:

  • Follow up on day-to-day management of schedule and activities with Nutrition Programme Manager to ensure quality implementation of activities
  • Participate in recruitment process for new care practices staff
  • Participate in defining the team’s objectives and carrying out appraisals

Objective 3: Coordinate staff training

Activities:

  • Liaise with the deputy HoD and HoD regarding internal training needs assessments with care practices team and provide recommendations for trainings
  • Create training plans for validation by the HoD
  • Organise and provide trainings to Care Practice Officers
  • Supervise training plans for Care Practice Officers for MoPHP staff
  • Participate in capacity-building of internal ACF staff on care practices & other related topics

Objective 4: Maintain strict respect of confidentiality

Activities:

  • Ensure that beneficiary information is held in confidentially and protocols are in place for the data under ACF’s responsibility
  • Provide regular reminders of the confidentiality procedures

Objective 5: Help plan and ensure adherence to activity schedule

Activities:

  • Ensure weekly activity planning is carried out with Care Practice Officers
  • Liaise with Nutrition Programme Manager & support focal points to plan a realistic schedule of activities in each health facility
  • Ensure availability of resources or request (and follow up) procurement of resources
  • Make sure beneficiary targets are realistic, and included in the weekly planning
  • Any other tasks as required by the Head of Department (HoD)

Educational / Professional Background and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology ( Psychologist ); experience in psychosocial programming, social work, public health, or health education
  • 2+ years of humanitarian experience

  • Knowledge of nutritional practices and/or infant and young child feeding practices

  • Ability to plan and run training sessions
  • Speak and write Arabic and English fluently
  • Microsoft office skills (word, excel, powerpoint)
