JOB TITLE:  Care Practice Officer

Department: Mental health and care practice

Location: Lahj

Duration: up to January 2022

Salary and Benefits: Gross monthly salary: 1041 $ - 1243 $

Medical and Life insurance: Including the employee, spouse, children and parents

Overall objective of the position

To provide care practices and psychosocial and reproductive health, gender and  protection services and referral to vulnerable people including mainly PLWs and promotion of mental health and psychosocial support to caregiver in health facilities and communities

Mission 1 : Promote  Reproductive health  , IYCF ,  MHPSS, protection and care practices among caregivers in health facilities   , stakeholders and communities

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Participate in elaborating prevention key messages and IEC material, and adapting them according to the context and MoH , ACF guidelines Conduct screening of vulnerable people for integration in support groups
  • Organize, prepare and support health workers to conduct health education/psychoeducation sessions and awareness raising related to IYCF ,mental health, psychosocial support , child protection, GBV, stigmatisation, care practices and reproductive health services according to MoH and ACF guidelines

Favour exchange and participation among the beneficiaries of different age and gender groups

Mission 2 : Contribute in capacity-building of Ministry of Public Health and  population (MoPHP) staff at health facility level and community

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Support program manager and deputy program manager in identify health workers training needs
  • Be responsible on Facilitate and coordinate the trainings workshop and supervisions  ,  on close collaboration of  MoH and District/Governorate Health office.
  • Prepare  and conduct with the psychologist and deputy program manager trainings for health workers according to ACF and MoH protocols
  • Conduct regular technical support and supervision for trained health workers and CHVs using ACF tools and MoH guidelines
  • Regular supervision  and provide technical support of MoPHP activities and daily follow-up , on-the-job training on Care practice , MHPSS , IYCF and RH services  and Provide training, support , follow up remotely if needed.

Mission 3:  provide RH and IYCF  counselling and group sessions on MHPSS and care practices activities with caregivers inside health facilities  and communities

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Facilitate RH , IYCF,  MHPSS, Gender & protection and care practices support group sessions with using ACF/MoPHP protocols, guidelines and manuals, in order to promote physical and mental health 
  • Assess knowledge and skills, well-being, resilience and coping mechanisms strategies progresses before and after sessions, using ACF tools
  • Encourage participation and self-expression; motivate participants; create a safe, confidential and friendly environment for group and individual sessions
  • Provide Daily on job training of MoPHP staff in counselling and facilities group sessions .

Mission 4: Actively participate in all planned activities and in the program implementation in general

Responsibilities and Tasks:

-Participate actively to clinical and technical supervision conducted by ACF

  • Contribute and support PM/DPM in evaluate needs and gaps related to RH , IYCF , care practice , MHPSS and protection , report challenges, suggest project’s improvements for implementation
  • Contribute to data collection, monitoring, evaluation and reporting ( Narrative and Data quantities ) on a daily, weekly and monthly bases for every conducted activities during the month according to ACF tools and processes; Guarantee and ensure clearance of collected  data at any time, and for any activity.
  • Understand and follow up the logistic, financial, HR and security procedures enabling timely project implementation
  • Collaborate actively with other ACF departments
  • Working closely with Health and nutrition treatment team, to ensure that Key messages are intergraded in all Health facilities and outreach activities and provide support whenever required .
  • Mange and raise any need in HFs to PM/DPM and DHO .
  • Create and enhance the feedback mechanism pathway, from caregivers that will enable ACF to respond to issues raised by the affected population timely.
  • Ensure adherence to ACF gender requirement; Commit and comply with ACF gender, age and diversity principles; Support the implementation and the promotion of gender, age and diversity principles at any time during activities
  • Any requested task from program manager of deputy program manger 

Mission 5: Care for pregnant and breastfeeding mother and other caregivers

  • Support and building capacity of MoPHP and provide ANC/PNC and IYCF counselling 
  • Ensure that RH and IYCF services deliver to BNFs properly through MoPHP staff inside health facilities and follow up work on closely to improve the quality of service .
  • Group discussions and peer support groups on care during pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding
  • Awareness on topics of reproductive health
  • Education for good health before, during, and after pregnancy & birth
  • Nutritional advice (healthy eating for mother & family)

mission 6: Child & caregiver activities

  • Supervise and mange Baby and mother friendly space and any other child caregiver interaction activities to ensure it is function in health facility as per the following :
  • Safe spaces for mothers & babies to play together
  • Time for mothers to make toys with children
  • Stimulation for babies undergoing nutrition treatment or screening
  • Mother-led play activity sessions
  • Baby massage groups
  • Early Child Development / development milestones

Required

Qualification/Degree/Level of Studies

University degree in Health related major, knowledge of Health, nutrition and Psychology an asset

Required

Professional Experience

Minimum 1 year of professional experience; Experience in humanitarian context related to Health , MHPSS, IYCF gender & Protection and/or Care Practices

Required Technical Skills

Excellent interpersonal skills and attitude; Knowledge and/or experience in Knowledge of health program and health system.

Good knowledge/ or experience Reproductive health services ,  IYCF ,Child development, community engagement and mobilization, understanding of important  MHPSS , facilitating groups Discussion and trainer skill .
Experience and understand the nature of the intervening society .

Other Requirements

The candidate needs to feel comfortable working in stressful environment. This position requires daily field travel at least 100% of the time.

  • Level of the position: T2.
  • Basic salary in accordance with our National Salary grid.
