Overall purpose of the role: 
Through its protection/Multi sector programing, DRC is looking for a reliable Medical doctor to perform various office and field medical duties to keep DRC protection response running efficiently.   Medical doctor will work directly under the supervision of Protection Manager to perform initial patient assessment, refer medical and surgical cases and follow up the cases.
Geographic scope: Country (Yemen)                            
This role has a country focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. The role contributes to the development of country strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to country operations while overseeing country activities.

Main responsibilities

Under the direct guidance and supervision of Protection Manager, Medical doctor will be responsible to triage medical and surgical cases and referral by:
•    Verifies patients’ information by interviewing patients and fill referral form.
•    Confirming purpose of visit and main patients complains.
•    Initial patient assessments by performing preliminary physical tests involve checking a patient’s vital signs, performing a physical exam and

obtaining the patient’s medical history and reporting patient history summary as:
-    Vital sign (BP, temp, HR)
-    The physical exam involves measuring height and weight, as well as looking for deformities or irregularities on the patient’s body.
-    obtains a medical history by asking patients questions about their medical conditions, medications, past surgeries and allergies. The MA records any findings into the patient charts and alerts the physician of the results.
•    Manage specialty referrals.
•    In life-threating cases in emergency situation can intervene and do basic life support (CPR & bleeding management)

-    Verifying cases that are affecting by arm conflict.
-    Investigate cases that are reported by local communities.
-    Conduct face-to-face interviews/verifications with the patients and their spouses
-    Approve the cases that need medical assistance and applicable to DRC Victim Assistance criteria.

Follow up:
•    Follow up each case individually in Hospitals and clinics that have agreement with DRC.
•    Post – operation cases follow up till case closure.

•    Collects and analyses weekly\monthly/quarterly data from fields.
•    Secures patient information and keeping patient information confidential.
•    Compile information in a clear, concise report on a standardized reporting format.
•    Enter data and maintain accurate records regarding victim assistance.
-    Provide weekly updates Protection Management.

•    Bachelor of Medicine
•    Minimum of three years’ experience working in relevant field.
•    Ability to work in a structured manner and independently with limited oversight.
•    Excellent negotiation and communication skills, including a supportive working style.
•    Essential computer literacy (word and Excel).
•    High level of professionalism.
•    Strong customer service skills.
•    Inventory management experience.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    The ability to differentiate between chronic and acute cases.
