Who are we?
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an International non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people in over 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in East Africa and Yemen (EAY) region for over a decade, running a combination of emergency, livelihood, protection and advocacy programs through Country Offices (COs) in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia/Djibouti, Yemen and Uganda/Tanzania with a Regional Office (RO) in Nairobi.
DRC, through its specialized business unit, Danish Demining Group (DDG) aims to recreate a safe environment where people can live without the threat of landmines, unexploded ordinances and small arms and light weapons”. These goals can be effectively advanced through cooperation and joint action with other organization as well as with integration of operations and programs with its sister organization, DRC.
Overall purpose of the role:
The Economic Recovery Assistant – GFD has a base focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines at base-level. The role contributes to the development of base strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. In addition, the Economic Recovery Assistant is in charge of the following:
- Provides administrative or technical support with the implementation of emergency activities in the area as well as other programs, where needed and relevant
- Assist the sector officer in ensuring compliance with DRC and donor processes, quality of the planning, implementation and follow up of emergency activities in line with sector guidelines and standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Administrative and technical support
- Carry out basic tasks within sector area, including beneficiary identification, distribution of relief assistance (either cash or in-kind), needs assessments and other sector-specific evaluations
- Carry out administrative tasks, including preparation of PRs, POs, service contracts, financial reconciliation and tracking of outputs
- Ensure timely reporting of outputs and escalation of issues faced during program implementation
- Follow given work plans and guidelines
About you
Education:
- Diploma or closely related Degree
Experience: (include years of experience)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant practical work experience in sector area working for an INGO
- Experience in administrative tasks
- Excellent IT skills
- Experience with following standard procedures and guidelines
- Fluency in local language

- Other DRC Departments (GFD, FSL, etc.)
- Community members
- I/NGOs and government services
- Private and public hospitals
- Support teams (logistics, finance, HR)
- Protection Cluster
Languages:
- Arabic – fluent
- English basic
We offer
- DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 15th of June, 2022 and be willing and able to work in Sa’ada.
