Summary:

Relief International will be initiating Women and Girl Safe Spaces to engage in activities related to Women’s Empowerment, life/vocational skills, mental health and protection. Senior Protection Officer will be based in the RI Country Office to oversee the overall implementation of the Protection activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work in collaboration with protection supervisors and field Protection Teams to identify women and girls at risk.
  • Participate in the smooth operation of the safe spaces and ensuring it complies with standards.
  • organize training and awareness sessions on protection for RI team and local partners
  • Ensure appropriate integration and mainstreaming of protection through all project activities
  • Mobilize women to participate in training needs assessment
  • Liaise with Field Protection Officer to liaise with local authorities and other key influential figures in the community to allow acceptance and continuity of the program.
  • Assist in development of protection plans alongside Protection Technical Coordinator.
  • Developing and updating the mapping of services for threats and abuses that IDPs and Host Community members face.
  • Technical support for the community center and ensure that they are able to provide individualized follow-up and safe referrals according to the protection minimum standards.
  • Protection-related advocacy researches and surveys in coordination with the Protection Manager.
  • Coordinate Field Visits for visitors on Protection Work as and when required.
  • Ensure that volunteers are identifying and referring vulnerable cases and persons with specific needs to the appropriate services.
  • Preparing the weekly, monthly, quarterly plans
  • Provide written feedback about protection incidents, issues and aid-related community-conflicts, trends and local customs and traditions that aid in the development of campaigns and activities.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities required by the line manager

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate degree preferably in psychology, social sciences, medicine or equivalent with a minimum of two- year professional experience.
  • Prior experience in managing, planning, and budgeting protection and women protection activities
  • Three-year experience of working with an INGO in increasing positions of reporting and responsibility
  • Good analytical, and excellent oral communication, teamwork and people skills
  • Logistical planning and problem-solving skills
  • Operates with a commitment to the survivor centered approach
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and ethical behavior
