The Job

FSL  Assistant (2) – Based in Taiz


Save the Children International (SCI) Yemen Country Programme has an annual budget of around USD 70 million and growing, working mainly on the humanitarian response to the ongoing conflict and its impact including more recently on the cholera outbreak. The SCI Yemen has over 700 staff and 1500 volunteers and works in nine governorates in the north and south of the country through seven field offices and two sub-offices in addition to the main office in Sana’a

The Food Security & Livelihood project assistant is responsible for the field activities related to all food security and livelihood project funded by DFID in Taiz districts and implemented by Save the Children Taiz office currently based in Alturbah.


Community Mobilization

  • Sensitize local authorities and communities to the project’s objectives, activities, and selection criteria.
  • Ensure beneficiary selection criteria are understood by local authorities and community members and that project beneficiaries have been identified according to SCI’s economic, vulnerability and target criteria.
  • Assist in running community meetings and workshops in a participatory and inclusive manner, to ensure that project activities are developed in consultation with communities and consider vulnerable groups.
  • Conduct trainings with community members or target groups on various topics, as required.
  • Collect and maintain lists of all beneficiaries with each project activity, to be input by Data entry team.

Activity Implementation

  • Under the direction of the FSL Programme Coordinator, community mobilization and Project Officer, provide support with the other Assistant to each project activity according to needs and to ensure timely delivery under the following key activities:
  • Unconditional Cash Transfers:
    • Conduct beneficiary identification, selection and registration, oversee cash transfers, verify beneficiaries at distribution points and contributing in cash distribution.
    • Supporting in community mobilization community committee election.
    • Coordinate with beneficiaries and cash service providers for cash distribution.
  • Cash for Work:
    • Assist Community Mobilizer in developing beneficiary and distribution lists, collecting attendance lists, following up work progress, cash/voucher/asset transfer, and managing CFW monitors.
    • Supporting in community mobilization community committee election.
    • Coordinate with beneficiaries and cash service providers for cash distribution
  • Child Protection/Safeguarding: Facilitate training for all staff and beneficiaries on child safeguarding topics.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Verify that the FSL Database Assistant has a complete beneficiary database that is regularly updated.
  • Follow-up on feedback from M&E Officer and Accountability Assistants to ensure that all findings are addressed and adjustments made to projects throughout implementation.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor and troubleshoot, submitting reports to the Programme Officer.
  • Assist in FSL assessments, surveys, data collection, and analysis as required by Project Officers.


  • At least university degree (B.S.c) in social science, economics, Agriculture, engineering geography or other discipline relevant to urban/rural livelihoods.
  • Two years of experience while working with development or humanitarian agencies. Tow years experience in Cash transfer
  • Good Organizational and Analytical Skills
  • One year experiences in food security and livelihood interventions (Food / Commodity distribution, food security & livelihoods project)
  • Capacity to and supervise the work of the team.
  • Good human relations and diplomacy.
  • Good reporting skills
