The Job

I.BACKGROUND:

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has delivered humanitarian relief and development programming in Yemen since 2008. DRC focuses on supporting refugees, migrants, and people displaced by conflict and natural disasters, working especially in areas with access challenges. DRC engages in protection, emergency, WASH, and mine risk education programming among other sectors, and has hub offices in Sana'a, Aden, Hodeidah, as well as several other locations throughout Yemen.
In response to the critical and constantly evolving humanitarian situation in Yemen, DRC has assumed a leading role in the development and implementation of Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) sector activities. Working in the CCCM sector involves working at IDP hosting sites and working together with other international and local organizations to coordinate implementation of humanitarian activities, support communiCty based site management mechanisms, and monitor IDP hosting sites for international standards as well as service related needs and gaps.
The Information Management Officer is responsible for establishing, maintaining and developing information flow systems together with CCCM sector teams, as well as consolidating field data into information products intended to provide critical inputs for programme development. This position is required to spend significant lengths of time in field locations with DRC project activities.

III.CORE FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Improve information flows and continue development of forms for capturing key field information
  • Ensure consistent response from the MEAL department to requests for information
  • Explore innovative means for capturing, storing, and documenting information
  • Ensure that all sources of verification are cross-examined prior to reporting
  • Support CCCM team with service monitoring & related information management
  • Supervise data entry conducted by database staff while ensuring that data meet high quality standards
  • Ensure timely and effective collection of data from data sources and identify appropriate data sources
  • Produce monthly reports of project progress including accurate data-analysis and gaps
  • Produce and update information products such as reports, charts, infographics, and other materials
  • Update 4W matrix with information and data from the relevant sector
  • Ensure the security of all shared information
  • Disseminate reports to clusters, donors and stakeholders as requested
  • Conduct data quality checks to the data/information periodically
  • Create online forms as requested by the MEAL Manager
  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by the line manager

IV.QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer Sciences/Information Systems/Information Technology or related field
  • Any Microsoft certifications in Access and related programs
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office as well as information product software
  • Strong capacity for critical thinking and analysis
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in knowledge and/or data management
  • Experience in the humanitarian or development sector an advantage
  • Ability/willingness to very frequently move to different field locations

V.LANGUAGES

Professional fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English is essential.
