The Job

Position:  Civilian Engineer, Hajja governorate

Reports to:  Health Supervisor and Project Manager

Duration:  3 months consultancy

Project objectives:

Project title: Provision of emergency primary health services through support of 4 existing health facilities including cholera response and integrated nutrition services supported by a network of Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) in 2 Districts (Shares and Najra districts) of Hajja governorate, funded by UNICEF
The project aims to contribute to reducing morbidity and mortality of most vulnerable conflict-affected populations with focus on children under 5 and pregnant and lactating women, in Yemen through the provision of life saving emergency primary health and nutrition services by running fixed health facilities, including outbreak disease prevention and response activities, supported by a network of Community Health Volunteers (CHVs)  in Hajja  governorate, Yemen.

Responsibilities/duties:

  • Assess the renovation and rehabilitation needs at the health facilities and preparing of BoQs accordingly
  • Assess water and sanitation needs, available resources and the capacity of existing systems for health facilities
  • Ensuring the needs analysis is matching with budget capacity,
  • Carry out technical supervision of the design activities and construction works;
  • Consult with local representatives about access, design and management of water systems and sanitation facilities, as well as hygiene promotion needs;
  • Assess conditions and set up maintenance systems at health facilities
  • Liaise with other agencies to ensure coordination and works suitability
  • Weekly and monthly reports
  • Perform other related duties upon request to support the project team and the project implementation process

  • Clear & timely communications to line management
  • Full abiding by INTERSOS internal rules and guidelines and respect INTERSOS Charter of Value and Code of Ethics

Qualification/level requirements

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering
  • At least 3 years of practical, hands-on experience reconstruction, renovation and rehabilitation of public infrastructure, including health facilities
  • Good knowledge of English (written and spoken) and native Arabic speaker.
