Background

Abs Development Organization for Woman and Child (ADO) is a non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian development organization working in the whole country of Yemen particularly the remote rural regions located at Tehama Cost, which was deprived of all public services and health care. Since its establishment in 1996, The Organization has been striving to create and maintain better living standards for impoverished women, youth and children through improvement programs designed to enhance livelihood, promote political, social and civil rights, provide health and humanitarian assistance and protect vulnerable women and girls suffering from gender based violence in partnership with the local Civil Society Organizations CSOs and International humanitarian institutions.

Reporting lines

a) Reports to: Health Officer/ Project Manager / Health Program Manager

b) Subordinates: Health Team/ CHVs

Core Functions & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the implementation of the health  activities
  • Participate to select the CHVs as per set criteria from the identified communities and facilitate mapping of the community health actors, help in assessing training needs and organizing training sessions
  • Supervise and provide on the job training to CHVs, review and evaluate the performance of the CHVs.
  • Provide for training needs to medical staff and community health workers, planning and implementation of relevant training
  • Organize smooth project supplies; ordering, stocking, and distribution and monitoring of consumption and weekly and monthly reporting on consumption
  • Planning and following with health facilities/clinic mobile team staff and CHVs to reach services in good and professional manner
  • Supervise collection and compilation of project data in geographic area of responsibility, and ensure meticulous and timely reporting
  • Compile the data collected from the field to be submitted to the Project Manager/Health Officer
  • Submit weekly/monthly statistics and narrative report to the Project Manager
  • Support assessments/surveys, monitoring and evaluation of the project
  • Guide the CHV’s in the implementation of the set action plans. Conduct weekly supervisory meeting with CHVs. Conduct regular visits to the CHVs in their communities to assess and assist in their work.
  • Maintain good and positive contacts with MOH, local authorities, and community leaders to ensure their involvement in project activities
  • Assist the logistician in procurement of drug/medical supply/medical equipment and ambulance materials by providing specification for requested items.
  • Check up for expiratory date of medicine.
  • Ensure that right diagnoses
  • Ensure that asking of drug/medical supply/medical equipment before a week of completing from the store.
  • Provide regular supervision of supported health facilities/clinic mobile staff and community health workers including data collection/records of beneficiaries and project activities, as well as timely implementation and reaching targets according to project objectives
  • Provide regular updates and reports to Project Manager/Health officer and others as required
  • Provide data, and success stories to enrich reports for both internal and external use
  • Organize and conduct joint multifunctional team monitoring visits
  • Monitor project implementation and ensure accurate, timely data collection
  • Ensure linkages and integration of community mobilization activities and health facilities/clinic mobiles services
  • Maintain project files and conduct all duties in a professional manner following ADO regulations, code of conducts and charter.

Qualifications                   

  • Technical diploma or degree in medical or social development or community mobilization fields required

Specific skills for the post:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as team leader or supervisor preferably in I/NGOs.
  • Work experience in Health as emergency response projects is preferable.
  • Experience In community health, public health (familiar with primary health care package services).
  • Experience in training clinical staff.
  • Experience in team management.
  • Good conceptual understanding of gender, protection, and human rights
  • Honest and trustworthy person.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently;
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and relationship building skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Good knowledge of public sector and/or emergency services.
  • Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment
  • Prefer to be able to communicate and develop linkages with NGOs & INGOs, Government agencies, local communities.
  • Ability to spend extended periods of time in field conditions.
  • Maintain project files Conduct all duties in a professional manner following ADO regulations, code of conducts and charter.

Languages

Spoken and written Arabic and English is essential.

Working Conditions

Due to nature of activates and areas where we operate, work might entail difficult working/travel/accommodation conditions. Able to work on a computer and operate a keyboard, for extended periods of time.  Able to work out of office location, at times at odd hours. Extensive field travel to the target areas required.
