Overall purpose of the role

The Finance Assistant will support all finance processes on a daily basis. She/he will ensure that proper financial and programmatic documentation related to expenditures is submitted and filed.

Geographic scope: Country (Yemen –Alhodaidah )                                                                                               

The duty station of the finance assistant will be based on Hodidah with possibility to move to the field frequently.

Main responsibilities                           

  • Managing and recording the petty cash up to date and ensure that cash is available at all times for implementation of the activities or any surprise cash count.
  • Managing the cash advances movement as per DRC policy and procedures.
  • Reviewing, verifying all payments and ensuring DRC manuals, procedures and policies are applied.
  • Prepare all payments vouchers and cheques/bank TRFs while ensuring adequacy and accuracy of supporting documentation.
  • Ability to move to field to support program staff.
  • Ensure that all cash/bank transactions have been recorded up to date.
  • Making sure that safe and bank have adequate balance.
  • Assist in cash accounts and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain proper filling system for all financial documents up-to-date.
  • Scan all payments and other financial documents as well as supporting documents on regular basis.
  • Assist in the implementation of finance policies, procedures and regulations
  • Following up money transfer with Al-Kuraimi ,Al-Barq and other FSPs.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential qualification

  • Bachelor Degree in accounting/Finance
  • At least one year in similar organization.
  • Excellent skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Advance English.
