Position Summary:
The Field Officer (Protection) will be responsible for the set-up of one WCSS in Shabwah Governorate (Bayhan or Ataq districts) and the ongoing implementation of GBV, PSS and recreational activities in the spaces. The WCSS Officer will be a highly-mobile position, requiring daily visits to field locations. Working in close coordination with the Protection Coordinator and Protection Technical Advisor, the WCSS Officer will ensure the utmost program quality in set-up and implementation of activities within the center.
In December 2019, RI opened three Women’s Centers (WCs) in three RI-supported health facilities: Kharef Rural Hospital and Al Dobr Health Center in Amran Governorate and Al-Qadam Health Center in Sana’a Governorate. Consequently in June 2021, RI commenced a protection program with a similar approach in Shabwah Governorate in Ataq and Bayhan Districts. In South, RI will run and manage one women center attached to the health facility and to Reproductive health services. This position will be stationed in the South.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the set-up of the three WCSS, including oversight of minor rehabilitation works, procurement, recruitment of staff and volunteers, community outreach and planning;
- Train WCSS staff and volunteers and provide on-the-job mentoring and coaching;
- Liaise with relevant RI staff (i.e. MEAL, Security and Access teams), as well as local authorities and community members;
- Ensure community participation in the design and implementation of the WCSS;
- Increase opportunities of information dissemination to communities, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders on relevant principles of RI work.
- Establish a service mapping in each location and ensure regular updating of these mappings;
- Provide overall supervision of three WCSSs, including the review of center activity plans, supervision of activities, monitoring of beneficiary satisfaction, and regularly report on the accomplishments and challenges encountered;
- Identify and discuss opportunities to improve implementation and community acceptance with the Protection Coordinator and Protection Technical Advisor;
- Maintain effective communications and good working relationships with other community-based service providers;
- Report any difficult situations or protection concerns in-line with RI guidelines;
- Promote effective coordination between the different teams providing services at the WCSS;
- Ensure awareness of the complaints mechanism and follow up internally on appropriate feedback;
- Carry out any other tasks as requested.
- Support in coordination with respective manager donor, and key partner visits and develop report on the same.
Job Requirements (Qualifications and Experience)
1. University degree, preferably in Psychology or in other social science studies relevant to the assignment;
2. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience in humanitarian protection, ideally related to WCSS, GBV and/or PSS activities;
3. Experience technically managing a team, training, mentoring and coaching;
4. Fluency in both Arabic and English (written and spoken) required;
5. Experience in team and project management;
6. Strong communication skills (written and spoken);
7. Competence in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel;
8. Ability to operate in challenging environments and move freely between field sites,.
