ABOUT ADRA: The Adventist Development and Relief Agency is an independent, humanitarian agency established for the specific purpose of providing individual and community development and disaster relief.  ADRA Yemen pursue a mission of changing the world by uplifting one life at a time. ADRA International serves 142 countries and was present in Yemen since 1995. It has more than 1200 aid workers serving in Yemen making it one of the biggest ADRA operations in the world. Its programs are supported by USAID, OFDA, The Japan Platform, DANIDA, German Foreign Office, German Humanitarian Aid, Sida, UNOCHA, UNHCR, WHO, WFP and DFID. It has presence in 14 Governorates in Yemen responding to all areas of humanitarian sectors. ADRA Yemen is undertaking programs in Yemen in the fields of health, child protection, education, women's protection and empowerment, NFI and food distribution, cash assistance, and livelihoods programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding and coordination.

SUMMARY:

Responsible in all activities implementation, the Field Assistant reports to the Project Officer. He/she will also be responsible for data collection, awareness raising in school level, forming school committees the field level as well as reporting of activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The “Field Assistant will be responsible but not limited to:

  • Raising awareness on hygiene promotion in schools
  • Forming school committees from teachers and students
  • Writing progress reports on related activities
  • Coordinating with schools’ management and education office for activities implementation
  • Ensures that all beneficiaries of every awareness session are registered in the attendance sheet.
  • Helps in the orientation training of committees prior working in the field.
  • Ensures that all beneficiaries of every awareness session are registered in the attendance sheet.
  • Makes plan on implementing Hygiene awareness which will be conducted.
  • Assists in selecting beneficiaries of hygiene kits and mentoring program as well as advocacy volunteers.
  • Supervises the performance of the volunteers in the field.
  • Submits weekly reports and activity plans to the assistant project manager.
  • Writes success stories of beneficiaries 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Experience in community mobilization and capacity building
  • Excellent skills in monitoring implementation of program activities.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication verbally and in writing as well as inter-personal skills
  • Become conversant with the various generic tools such as assessment and survey techniques and questionnaires.
  • Ability to identify potential problems before they occur. Proactive in preparation and uses initiative in response.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, knowledge of English is desirable
  • Good computer skills
