Job Description

Position Title: Health and Nutrition Program Coordinator

Duty Station: Aden/Field Work

Contract Duration: 7 months with possibility of renewal

Reports To: Health Program Manager

Job Summary

The Health and Nutrition Program Coordinator is responsible for executing, coordinating, and managing health and nutrition programming in Taiz governorate and possible other governorates. He/She will be based out of Aden with expected 70% travel to the field. He/She provides leadership over the strategic and operational plans for health and nutrition programming in order to meet country office objectives. The Health and Nutrition Program Coordinator oversees project staff to ensure the effective implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities in compliance with internal Samaritan’s Purse (SP) and external donor and international standards. The Health and Nutrition Program coordinator reports to the Health and Nutrition Program manager, and supervises Health Project officers.

Health and Nutrition Program Coordinator Key Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Health and Nutrition Program Manager, provide leadership over the implementation of Health and Nutrition programming.
  • Directly guide, manage, and support project staff through assigning work packets, conducting performance reviews, resolving team conflicts, and providing trainings, ongoing direction and constructive feedback.
  • As requested, represents SP in developing relationships with Health and Nutrition clusters, local government, other INGOs and NGOs, as well as other stakeholders in SP areas of operation.
  • Ensure information-sharing and coordination of project activities with relevant local government departments, health centers, NGOs and community stakeholders.
  • Ensure all project activities are conducted in a timely fashion to meet project objectives.
  • Work with the Health and Nutrition Program Manager to implement M&E monitoring plans that capture quantitative and qualitative data for measuring the success of health programming.
  • Coordinate with the Operations department to ensure project inputs are procured and arrive in a timely and transparent manner to meet project objectives. This includes providing verifiable records for the receipt and usage of project inputs such as pharmaceuticals and supplies.
  • Assist Health and Nutrition Program Manager as needed in monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, as well as other reports required by internal stakeholders and external donors.
  • With technical assistance from the Health/M&E Officer, regularly monitor and evaluate project activities to track progress towards indicators, incorporate lessons learned, and improve Health and Nutrition programming.
  • Maintain a strong ethic to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and the general public.
  • Support clinical leadership to provide training and mentoring to other clinical staff in dissemination of new knowledge or protocols.
  • Relay any information specified by the Health and Nutrition Program Manager to Health Center staff.
  • Monitor the quality of the program by conducting regular supervisory visits, on-the-job trainings, use of Quality Improvement Verification Checklists, and mentoring of Health Center staff.

Education / Experience Needed/Licenses

  • Professional health care license (Doctor) from a certified, licensed college or university
  • Three to four years of experience and/or training in the health care setting
  • Demonstrable ability at report writing
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and local languages
  • Computer literacy – Able to function within Excel workbooks including data entry and data analysis.
  • Must maintain active license to practice relevant professional medical specialty in Taiz for the entire duration of contract
  • Experience working with other INGOs is a plus

Language

  • Written and spoken Arabic REQUIRED
  • Written and spoken English REQUIRED
