VACANCY SPECIALIST ANAESTHESIOLOGIST EMERGENCY SURGICAL CENTRE HAJJAH CITY

Background
EMERGENCY is an independent, neutral and non-political Italian organization that provides free, high quality medical and surgical treatment to the victims of war, landmines and poverty. EMERGENCY promotes a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights. EMERGENCY is going to open a Surgical Centre for War Victims in Hajjah (Hajjah Governorate) Yemen.

Duration: 6 Month with possibility of extension;
Location: Hajjah city;
Working hours: Full time
Reporting to: Specialist Anaesthesiologist Team Leader/Focal person, ultimately, to the Medical Coordinator.

Scope of the position:
Specialist Anaesthesiologist are in charge of the complete and autonomous management of critical patients in emergency situations and the provision of anaesthetic care perioperatively and intensive care.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Tasks and responsibilities:

The Specialist Anaesthesiologist’s tasks and responsibilities include - but are not limited to - the following areas:

  • To examine patients and assess their needs providing medical assistance and taking the needed actions according to the urgency and severity of the problems; 
  • To carry out an optimal patient care, according to the Emergency guideline and protocols;
  • To carry out hygiene with the highest standard according to Emergency protocols and guidelines; 
  • To perform the appropriate life-saving actions for each patient;
  • To take patients medical history, collecting information both from patients and from relatives or other medical professionals;
  • To record and update  patients’ information;
  • Present the case to the consultant/s in a correct way;
  • Management of anaesthetic procedures in the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative phases, and in cases where anaesthetic assistance is required for diagnostic procedures;
  • Management of surgical and medical patients in Intensive Care;
  • Management of hospital emergencies (Emergency Department, Intensive Care, ward);
  • Safety checks and supervision of the maintenance of the ventilators (where present), monitors, infusion pumps and any other technological equipment used in anaesthesia;
  • To handover critical patients and/or others in needs;
  • Mentoring of resident physician (where present) and General Practitioner;
  • To prepare admission documentation and discharge letters;
  • To share decisions regarding patient treatment with Anaesthesia, Surgical Team and Medical Coordinator;
  • To follow IPC and COVID-19 protocol and preventive measures according to the instruction received from the Medical Coordinator;
  • To inform immediately the supervisor of  possible absences/delay;
  • To show respect for the property of EMERGENCY NGO;

Job Requirement:

  • Bachelor Degree of Medical Studies
  • Mater/PHD in General Surgery
  • Good English knowledge and ability to work in an international Environment
  • Good communication skills and the ability to deal with emotionally charged and pressured situations is essential.
  • Due to the location of the Hospital, to reside/live in Hajjah will be considered a preferential condition;
