Protection Assistant Yemen Taiz

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Protection Assistant (Case Management) is responsible for delivering case management and emergency protection cash support in their area of operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Generic responsibilities:

  1. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  2. Implement delegated duties according to the plan of action.
  3. Record and file information correctly.
  4. Work with diverse groups of people, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
  5. Contribute and participate in periodic and need-based market assessments to inform project design decisions.
  6. Promote and share ideas that will help NRC respond appropriately.

Specific Responsibilities

Case management service provision

  • Provide general protection case management services in compliance with best-practice and international standards in protection response (including NRC case management SoP) including assessment of need, development of case plan and referral/identification of access to services, follow-up, and case closure.
  • Regularly attend case management meetings and relevant case conferences at the field level.
  • In addition to the protection team, collaborate closely with other members in the field/office ensuring smooth coordination and referrals.
  • Ensure and oversee that specialized needs, including Child Protection Case Management and GBV Case Management, are referred to specialized service providers, and that at all times safeguarding the safety and respect of the survivor is promoted, in addition to the confidentiality of his/her information and right to his/her right to access services without any discrimination.

  • Ensure adherence to standards of care and quality case management.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compilation of Case Management in accordance with case management.
  • Ensures conducting regular case-verification mechanisms during and after the activity.

Monitoring and reporting

  • Produce reports as required by the Protection Officer (including weekly reports).
  • Accurately update the protection case management and referral database ensuring adherence to data protection protocols.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential case files to document client interactions and interventions using NRC tools, ensuring adherence to data protection protocols.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly work planning as directed by the Protection Officer.
  • Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on issues in the performance of the program.

Coordination and representation:

  • Collaborate with other NRC sectors and NGOs to ensure a coordinated and collaborative response to the provision of services and assistance for those benefiting from case management.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders, and service providers.
  • Advocate for the needs of vulnerable individuals both internally and through coordination mechanisms through evidence-based advocacy.
  • Ensure up-to-date understanding of service providers operating in the area based on available service mappings and coordination with stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social work, Counselling, psychology, or other related fields;
  • 1-2 years of experience in protection-related work;
  • Previous experience in international organizations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, and safety of beneficiary at all times;
  • Strong understanding of basic counseling and psychosocial support concepts; previous training in these areas is strongly preferred;
  • Ability to discuss sensitive issues with respect and empathy;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect of beneficiary at all times;
  • Strong ability to organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, work independently, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail;

Demonstrated interest in humanitarian work and supporting people affected by conflict;

Behavioral competencies
