Background Information – PWP

The Public Works Project was established in mid-1996 in cooperation between the Yemeni government and the World Bank. The most important objectives of the project focused on developing the infrastructure of local communities in various fields, and through this, job opportunities are provided to the largest possible number of skilled and unskilled workers. The activity spreads in rural and urban areas and in all districts at the republic level
The Public Works Project implements the various funds provided by donors and is keen to respond to the donors' conditions and implement the programs entrusted to it in eefficiently and according to the planned time.

Job Purpose:

Projects coordinator will work under supervision of the PWP director and will be responsible for managing and supervising the implementation process of subprojects activities related to his scope of work. The targeted projects are distributed on the southern and eastern Yemen coastal.    
Functional Responsibilities

Generic responsibilities 

• Adhere to PWP policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
• Follow up and coordination with stakholders and benificiaries.  
• Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
• Ensure proper filing of documents 
• Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
• Help plan and carry out needs assessments, baseline all required studies and tender documents and periodic studies, and feedback findings to the stakeholders.
• Communication with donor and other stakholders. 

Specific responsibilities

• Following up preparation of subprojects, review technical desgine and BoQ
• Conduct continues field visits to monitor subprojects  implementation progress and assure the quality required 
• In coordination with the site supervisors engineers, monitor the implementation activities and achievements of results as detailed in the subproject time lines and budget.
• Organize and coordinate meetings on construction related issues when required.
• Review the contractors payment requests and insure that the quantities was implemented and within the BOQ 
• Ensure direct management and problem solving of daily tasks and challenges, in coordination with the subarea manager.
• Working under PWP Director and Keep the pwp executives managers  informed of the progress made and the challenges encountered during the implementation of the subprojects.
• Ensure the full absorption of all environmental and social protection measures mentioned in the environmental and social plans in the relevant projects
• Participate in the final inventory of the items implemented and preparation of the final payments to the contractors. 
• Participate in site delivery and handing over of the subprojects
• Preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and statements required by subarea manager and HQ.
• Coordination with donors representitives.
• Coordinate with the local authorities and local communities to solve any problems may face the implementation process.
• Carry out any tasks assigned to them by their direct supervisor.

Education/ experience 

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering 
• Minimum 10 years of progressive operational experience as a civil engineer. Experience in fish markting area is preferred. 
• proven track record in working on:
  • Study, designe and supervision for projects covering a broad range of sectors especially stone paving, sanitation and rain water drainage systems.
  • Ability in coordination and following up the projects progress, coordination with local authorities and financers.
  • experience in coordinating field projects
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with monitoring and project management applications and office applications ( in particular, word, excel, and PowerPoint
  • An experience in Environmental and Social Safeguards will be a plus.
• Good level of English language both spoken and writing.
