Duration:       Till December 31, 2022, renewable based on fund availability & performance

It has presence in 14 Governorates in Yemen responding to all areas of humanitarian sectors. ADRA Yemen is undertaking programs in Yemen in the fields of health, child protection, education, women's protection and empowerment, NFI and food distribution, cash assistance, and livelihoods programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding and coordination.

SUMMARY:

The SBCC Field Officer will be part of a dynamic, innovative and multi-disciplinary team of professionals working to improve health and nutrition of vulnerable populations. To contribute to this goal, this staff member will facilitate an effective promotion of high-impact behaviors related to health and nutrition. S/he will work in close collaboration with BSFP Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The “SBCC Field Officer” will be responsible but not limited to:

  • Creating and/or maintaining an active network of Community Health and Nutrition Volunteers (CHNV) willing and capable of an effective promotion of the key health and nutrition behaviors.
  • Training CHNVs (TOT) in an effective implementation of community-level SBCC activities
  • Producing and submitting lists of beneficiaries to WFP for processing payments within the CBT module.
  • Establishing and training mother to mother supporting groups (MtMSG) on SBCC module on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Conduct regular meetings, at monthly basis, of the local Community Committee.
  • Enhancing radio sessions recordings and production and airing on monthly basis.
  • Identifying and training local committee for activity three implementation and improvement.
  • Supporting the implementation of community-level SBCC activities
  • Providing the CHNVs with advice and demonstrations of how they can improve the effectiveness of their SBCC activities.
  • Submitting of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • During everyday work, keep re-assessing the key barriers and enablers to the promoted behaviors and proposing ways how they can be addressed
  • Other SBCC activities as assigned by the superior.

 

  QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor Degree in anthropology, communication or other social sciences relating to SBCC is an advantage or related field.
  • Extensive experience with promoting behaviors at the community level
  • Two- year experience in using SBCC approaches, such as mother-to-mother groups
  • Ability to train others using adult learning and participatory learning methods, as opposed to top-down lecturing
  • Strong communication, facilitation and training skills
  • Understanding of the different factors that prevent or encourage behavior change
  • Willingness to work extensively in the target areas
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
  • Good reporting skills
  • Fluent in Arabic language; English language is desired but not fully required
