Job Description
Safe Road for peace and development organization (SRPD) is a non -profit and non- governmental organization which was established in NOV, 2017 to provide works through innovative approaches around the country to save lives, defeat poverty, achieve social justice and building Peace and development in communities, especially for those living in poverty marginalized communities, where they can utilize their potentials for sustainable development.
Under the UNHCR Socio-economical Assessment Project that aims to provide relief to the most vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers in Amana Al-Asimah and Sana'a governorates. The Interpreter will make sure to facilitate the ongoing process of the project through conducting his/her responsibilities and duties.
Job Title: Interpreter/ Facilitator (3)
Location: Sana’a – Algeria St.
Duration: 6 Months
General Description:
Under the supervision of the operation Officer, the interpreter is responsible of Assisting the receptionists in interpretation\facilitation during individual interviews with refugees/ Asylum seekers at Safe Road’s Community dropping-in center.
Main Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the operation Officer, the interpreter will:
- Assist the receptionists in interpretation during individual interviews with refugees/Asylum seekers.
- Assist as an interpreter with other activities/interventions handled by safe road office and field staff.
- Assist the field monitors in entering data from the field.
- Attend meetings with refugees to facilitate the dialogue between refugees and Safe Road.
- Take a part in facilitating workshops and trainings arranged by Safe Road.
- Assist in individual counseling to the refugees who approach the community dropping center (DC).
- Perform other duties, as required.
- Adhere to the principals of UNHCR and Safe Road Codes of Conduct.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Fluency in Oromo, Somali, Amharic, Tigrinya, Afar or any other refugee’s language.
- Experience as an Interpreter in a refugee / Asylum seeker is a plus.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- One year of experience, experience in working with NGO is preferable.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work in a diverse team environment.
