The ICRC is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of:

Premises Maintenance Officer

Contract type: Open Ended 
Duty Station: Based in ADEN

The Premises Maintenance Officer ensures proper maintenance of ICRC premises and equipment.

Functional Responsibilities: 

If supervised by the Premises Maintenance Supervisor or Premises Manager 1 (large to medium-sized  delegations):

  • Ensures that premises and equipment are properly maintained and that all utilities are working as they should.
  • Carrying out of maintenance of housing systems (electricity ,plumbing, CCTV , solar and power backup systems, fire alarms, and air conditioners).
  • Orders or purchases any necessary material, in coordination with logistics staff.
  • Maintains and repairs equipment and infrastructure; coordinates and/or supervises any work done by external 
  • providers.

If supervised by the Finance and Administration Manager (small delegations):

  • Coordinates the maintenance team and ensures that premises and equipment are properly maintained and that 
  • all utilities are working as they should.
  • Supervises and controls maintenance-related expenses for the assigned premises.
  • Deals with external service providers where relevant and coordinates/supervises their work.
  • Orders or purchases any necessary material and supplies, in coordination with logistics staff, and maintains stocks.
  • Keeps proper related files and statistics.

Headquarters only: is responsible for all aspects (maintenance and safety according to legal requirements) in a specific area (electricity; heating, ventilation and sanitation).

Scope & Impact 

  • Remit: limited to ICRC premises. 
  • Authorized to carry out purchases according to ICRC financial rules.Relationships 
  • Internally, interacts with other ICRC employees and/or the users of ICRC premises.
  • Externally (headquarters only), interacts with suppliers.

Certifications/Education Required 

  • Technical school or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English and/or French.
  • Sound knowledge of computers and ability to run specific software.

Professional Experience Required 

  • 2-3 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Has the technical skills necessary to do the job.
