ZOA Yemen is currently seeking for national qualified candidates for:
WASH Assistant- Engineer, Al-Mahwit & Hajjah – 2 position
Under the supervision of the Senior WASH Officer/ WASH officer engineer, the WASH Assistant- Engineer will assist in the day to day implementation of all WASH interventions in the assigned project areas. the WASH Assistant will report and assist to ensure that the construction / rehabilitation works are done according to the civil plans, structural designs and drawings in full compliance with the engineering standards using high-quality construction materials as indicated in the BoQs and that it completed within the stipulated timeframe.
I. Tasks and responsibilities
The WASH Assistant- engineer holds delegated authority for:
Specific Responsibilities:
- To assist Senior WASH Officer/ WASH officer engineer in the coordination of the WASH technical activities according to proposals, budgets and plans
- To assist the Senior WASH Officer/ WASH officer engineer in all aspects of WASH technical program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Assist in monitoring, interpreting and explaining the work plan, drawing and design documents supplied by ZOA.
- Conduct water quality testing and sanitary inspection at water points.
- Providing regular updates and reports to the Senior WASH Officer/ WASH officer engineer on the project interventions and their status and quality of implementation.
- Under the supervision of Senior WASH Officer/ WASH officer engineer, ensure that the construction activities are carried out according to the plans, designs and drawings and ascertain accuracy of the qualities, quantities and proportions of the construction materials are precisely maintained.
- Resolve any unforeseen technical difficulties and other problems that may arise in the process of the work in consultation with the Senior WASH Officer/ WASH officer engineer.
- Supervising all construction works related to water and sanitation and take the lead on technical verification of works provided by contractors.
- Assist in following up the distribution of construction materials at field level.
- Assist in documenting lessons learned and success stories of WASH program.
- Assist in liaising with community water management committees in areas where WASH infrastructure is being rehabilitated to help ensure local ownership and assist in developing sustainable mechanisms for operations and maintenance.
- Assist Senior WASH Officer/ WASH officer engineer in recording accomplishment reports.
- Assists in the establishment and training of water point committees as well as monitoring their performance.
- Support in the Documenting the lessons learned and success stories of WASH program.
Reporting & Data Collection
- S/He will report to the direct supervisor of the Senior WASH officer/ WASH officer engineer.
- Be involved in data collection during start up, progress and end term assessments

Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of Civil engineering and their implementation.

Location: Hajjah and Al-Mahwit
Start date: as soon as possible, contract until 31st of December 2022 with possibility for extension based on budget availability
