Job Description

2 FSL Assistant (Short-term)

ROLE PURPOSE: 

The FSL Project Assistant will ensure the coordination and successful implementation of food security and livelihoods activities (software) in the area(s) of project intervention S/he is assigned. With a focus towards livelihoods and food security disaster, s/he will oversee the implementation of (Food baskets distribution or Unconditional Cash Transfer {UCT}) activities or other modalities. S/he will be responsible for timely implementation and monitoring of project activities and reporting progresses.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  •     Follow up on time implementation of all FSL activities in assigned areas under close coordination with the direct supervisor.
  •     Coordinate with the community for conducting community sensitisation meetings/workshops to the project’s objectives, activities, and selection criteria on the area level.
  •     Follow up implementation of FSL activities with the established Community Development Committees (CDC).
  •     Coordinate with targeted communities for conducting of the beneficiary selection, registration and verification process.
  •     Oversee distribution process, ensuring Save the Children standards and security procedures are followed.
  •     Ensure any problems in implementation are reported to direct supervisor in a timely manner and appropriate action taken with support from him/her.
  •     Send the requested reports to the direct supervisor including detailed and accurate data concerning all activities assigned as well as addresses progress, specific challenges and successes.
  •     Respect time within working hours, meeting deadlines, and other requests from direct supervisor or Program Manager/ Coordinator.
  •     Assist in carrying out needed assessments and data collection from the targeted areas.
  •     Assist in data entry and ensure the quality of information collected. 
  •     Cooperate with other sector field workers: WASH, Health & Nutrition and Child Protection to ensure proper integration and coordination.
  •     Participate in regular feedback sessions on all implementation findings.
  •     Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

  •     Preferable university degree in social science, engineering, economics, agriculture, geography or other discipline relevant to Food security and livelihoods.
  •     Preferable one year of experience working with I/NGOs on development projects.
  •     Strong ability to verbally communicate complex ideas to rural populations (in Arabic).
  •     Ability to diplomatically and sensitively resolve conflicts within and between communities/stakeholders.
  •     Ability and willingness to travel extensively to the field, under sometimes difficult circumstances. 
  •     Very good at using Excel and other MS Office applications
  •     Ability to work with a team and individually.
  •     Flexible, adaptable, able to improve and work in stressful and instable environment.
  •     Good in written English and ability to write good quality reports.
