Médecins Sans Frontières France is looking for Yemeni nationals to recruit for the following position:

NURSE SUPERVISOR IPC/ICU (INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL) 

Location: Aden Sadaqa CTC
Reporting to: Nursing Activity Manager
CONTRACT TYPE: Fix Term Contract
Duration: 1 month, possibility to extend
Opening date: 18 November 2021

Main Purpose
The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the general management of the ward. He plans, organizes, and evaluates the activities concerning his/her field of action (Nursery) and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies and protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the security, quality and continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action. 
Training and capacity building are essential.

  • Ensures that MSF policies and protocols are strictly followed, as well as medical orders and instructions
  • Checks that medical confidentiality is respected and patients are sufficiently informed about their illnesses and treatment
  • Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
  • Ensures that drug dispensing and vital signs are done on time.
  • Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team, evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
  • Defines the training needs of the nurse’s team with the Head Nurse and plans sessions of theoretical and practical trainings and participates in the training of the team by accompanying individuals in their work.
  • Oversees the respect of time schedule and makes sure that the staff is on time at work.
  • Assists the Head nurse in identification and correction of contentious issues within the team.
  • Carry out pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.) in his/ her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Makes a weekly inventory of medical and logistic items, as well as a weekly order to supply the ward, and prevents any shortages by doing extra-orders, in collaboration with nurses and nurse aids. 
  • Ensures the reception of the order, and stores it in collaboration with the pharmacist.
  • Monitors the consumption of all stock (daily consumption sheet), and notes any irregularities
  • Maintains documentation that accurately reflects consumption, orders and supplied stock
  • Ensures that sufficient and appropriate materials are available at all times to complete the required tasks.
  • Supervises and ensures the good functioning and the daily maintenance of all equipment and medical supply.
  • Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team follow the MSF standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality. Make sure that proper aseptic techniques are applied in all circumstances 
  • Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the MSF protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
  • Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment in accordance of MSF protocols for Covid project 
  • Ensures safe disposal of different wastes following MSF’s protocol
  • Checks the maintenance of equipment is, including expiring date control.
  • Is member of the hygiene committee and evaluates the general hygiene in the hospital
  • Participates in CTC meetings as requested by the Head nurse/NAM, and defines objectives
  • Carry-out administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.

Requirements

Education    

  • Nurse Diploma 

Experience    

  • Experience required 2 years on a relevant position
  • Preferable previous working experience working with MSF or other NGOs

Language        

  • Mission language English (B2 or C1) and local language Arabic

Knowledeges

  • Computer literacy (word, excel, internet)
