Position: Finance Officer

Locations:  Sana’a

PURPOSE OF DIVISION:

The overall aim of our financial response is to ensure enhanced access to effective and dignified Financial assistance in operational day to day activities and assist to have increased support to program unites and guide program staff to implement the project activities in proper way. And to make controlling of the budget for all projects.

The Finance Division closely works with country programme team in identifying, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the financial projects issues and to deal with the government needs such as tax, and social security by making good understanding to the local law as well as international law.

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to Finance Manager, the FO has the responsibility to manage the Operational, Financial and Business Management, and preparation of financial reports and Periodic Financial Closing. Also to participate in External Audit as and when required. Be Responsible to Office Management/Book keeping/Filing System Management.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Maintain close working relationship with project staff.
  •  Maintain close working relationship with Suppliers

SCOPE AND AUTHORITY

Scope of the Role:

Reporting to Finance Manager, the FO has the responsibility to manage the Operational, Financial and Business Management, and preparation of financial reports and Periodic Financial Closing. Also to participate in External Audit as and when required. Be Responsible to Office Management/Book keeping/Filing System Management.

Responsibility for Resources:

  • Controlling the day to day operation work.
  • Checking all the Bank payments.
  • Checking the salary payments.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The job holder is accountable for fulfilling his or her roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic values and principles of fairness, humanity, honesty, respect and fair treatment of his/her colleagues and staff. This includes but not limited to:

  • Preparation of accounts for statutory audit including the schedules of different items.
  • Coordination with external auditors as and when required
  • Preparation of Bank Reconciliations and bank correspondence if any
  • Reconciliation of in kind donation between the finance data and other concerned department.
  • To monitor the Daily operation cycle with aim to enhance the department performance
  • To ensure the smooth functioning of Payment and Receipt Cycle
  • Finalization of Daily Posting/Book keeping
  • Preparation/updating of Cash and Bank books on daily basis, to have proper account balances available at all times to support in decision making. 
  • Drawing correct Trial balances from the posted entries (Project wise and Donor wise).
  • Coding of vouchers according to latest chart of account.
  • Maintenance of Chart of Account, expenses and budgets in operation.
  • Review and Reconciliations of field offices clearance and highlight and report the deficiencies of the financial record if any
  • Act as focal person from finance when required.
  • Any other assignment as per the instruction of the line manager

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Three years’ experience of working for a humanitarian aid organization in similar position.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English & Arabic.  
  • Computer proficient in MS Office and internet, demonstrated understanding of the financial information system/ accounting software AX (or similar system/software).
