NPA’s international work covers three core areas: Mine Action and Disarmament, Democratization and Just distribution of power and resources, and Humanitarian Action and crisis response.

NPA is seeking an Information Management Assistant for its program in Yemen.

Job purpose.

The Information Management Assistant (IMA) within the Yemen program holds a key role in supporting technical activities under the guidance of the Information Management Officer (IMO). Their primary responsibilities encompass utilising computerized mapping and software applications, along with applying data management principles to ensure seamless information management processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Upload data to Survey123 and SharePoint, ensuring accurate processing through data cleaning and validation.
  • Prepare maps as required
  • Upload and archive IM products in both hard and soft copy formats to maintain accessibility and organisation.
  • Assist in installing, configuring, and managing IM tools and their functions as per specifications to optimise operational efficiency.
  • Support the translation of various documents, reports, and emails to facilitate effective communication in bilingual settings.
  • Collaborate with the IMO and Operations Manager (OM) in producing regular reports on NPA implementation and progress to track program performance.
  • Undertake any other tasks relevant to the department and role as requested by the IMO/OM, adapting to evolving operational needs during the contract period..

Required

Must have:

  • University degree, studies on computer science or studies in information management.

Education

  • 1-2 years’ experience in the field of data management and database development.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Good working knowledge in technical IT.
  • Excellent cooperating ability, both with national and international personnel.
  • Ability to function under pressure with minimal supervision.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with INGOs.
  • Experience in Humanitarian Mine Action.
  • Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and GPS.
  • Full driving Licence

Personal competencies

  • Excellent listening skills, verbal and written communication, a clear speaking voice and the confidence to speak and interpret in public places.
  • Ability to do simultaneous and/or consecutive interpreting.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • Have attention to detail, consistency and accuracy in his/her work.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork spirit
  • Be flexible.
  • Ability to work outdoors in harsh climatic conditions
