Position Summary:
The Literacy Curriculum and Materials Development Officer will be responsible for facilitating and contributing to all reading improvement related activities.
Expected Outcomes:
- Delivery of quality literacy curriculum and teaching and learning materials through liaising and facilitating with the Ministry of Education and other subject matter experts.
- Contribute in the development of supervisory and monitoring tools used to measure teacher performance and student learning in reading.
- Liaise with Ministry of Education officials to ensure a coordinated approach to reading across the curriculum across program regions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- The Literacy Curriculum and Materials Development Officer provides technical assistance and facilitation to the project’s support to improved reading instruction.
- He/she assists in the production of all program reading material, all supported trainings in reading, all teacher and classroom supervision and monitoring and all student testing efforts.
- He/she facilitates complementarity of activity approaches in reading across all program regions, liaises with government representatives and technicians on technical matters.
- Works closely with other project technical experts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required, BA degree highly desired
- At least 4 years of general work experience in program planning and implementation and at least 2 years to improve Literacy is required.
- Experience with the development of Literacy materials, training programs, classroom monitoring protocols, and tests and assessments, including EGRA, is required.
- Experience with supporting civil society based monitoring of Literacy outcomes.
- Advanced level of spoken and written English highly desired, medium level required.
