BCHR is a non-profit and non-governmental organization aiming to provide health, nutrition, food security and protection services as a humanitarian response to the escalating socio-economic situation in Yemen since 2015.

About the job:

The Security and Safety Assistant will be responsible for acting as the operations and communications focal point for the BCHR staff movement and Collecting the necessary data and information to develop a comprehensive risk assessment.
The safety & Security Assistant will be responsible for ensuring that contractor workers adhere to public safety standards. Under the supervision of the Project Manager, Hajjah Branch Manager, the Security and safety Assistant will be responsible for 
Collect the necessary data and information, and develop and regularly update the Safety and Security Management Plan and tools by the nature of safety and security risks (inc. security protocols, procedures for personal movement and transport, office, warehouse) and ensure safety and security dimensions are factored into all project activities. In addition assist project staff in enhancing standards about safety and security, the security and safety assistant will be based in Hajjah Office

Overall purpose of the role: 

The Safety Assistant responsibility is to monitor closely the overall safety situation, collect information, analyze incidents, and report findings to Project Manager and provide sound and timely advice to BCHR staff and management in order to support the secure and efficient delivery of program activities in Yemen. In addition, the SAI works with the Project Manager in ensuring that incidents are reported through the BCHR system and to ensure proper archiving and safe keeping of safety related documents. 
 
Geographic scope: Country (Yemen)

This role has an area focus and ensures compliance to BCHR procedures and guidelines within the country. The role contributes to the development of country strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to country operations while overseeing country activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general administrative assistance to the Safety team. 
  • Maintains routine and confidential correspondence files/documents.
  • Managing and archiving required documents.
  • Maintain and update safety data matrix/analysis for the area in coordination with Project Manager – information at BCHR office.
  • Assist with the implementation of regional safety policies, safety rules, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to the safe implementation of program activities.
  • Assist in tracking of access and operations and in monitoring of staff field movements.
  • Carry out tasks regarding information sharing between the relevant actors within assigned areas of operations.
  • Collect, verify, analyze, and submit timely and regular reports to PM regarding issues that affect, or may affect BCHR operations.
  • Administratively assisting CSM/SM when conducting safety training/workshops.
  • Assist PM in incidents and emergencies by carrying out assigned tasks in order to maintain prompt action and support for staff. 
  • Assist in monitoring that access controls are in place for all BCHR facilities.
  • Submit activity and weekly security incident reports.
  • Assist the procurement and issue of safety equipment.
  • Carry out other activities as requested by the PM.

About you

To be successful in this role you must have:

Experience and technical competencies:

  • The applicant should be a Yemeni National, preferably female, and based in Hajjah.
  • Good experience in data analysis / matrix, computing: Microsoft Word, Excel and Email software
  • Good experience in document archiving.
  • A good understanding of refugee, migration and protection-related issues
  • Health Safety and Environment (HSE) training is an advantage
  • A good understanding of local politics and history
  • Previous experience in safety and security or in liaison with authorities

  • A university degree or Diploma in a discipline related to information management/Data analysis

  • Arabic (fluent)
  • English (fluent)
