MEAL Assistant Job Description

(MEAL) Assistant will work under the supervision of the MEAL Manager to ensure quality and accountability standards are integrated into the regular MEAL day to day work under YGUSSWP project. 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 

  • significant data collection.
  • Ensure quality data collection from the field and review the data to identify incomplete and/or inconsistent information.
  • Responsible for the operations of reporting and complaints mechanism and receiving regular feedback from children and other stakeholders;
  • Collect and analyses quantitative and qualitative data according to the MEAL priorities developed by the MEAL Manager 
  • Follow up the implementation of Sponsorship accountability plan with partners;
  • Assist when required to develop MEAL databases within a framework of M&E plan.
  • In consultation with MEAL Manager, prioritize documents to be entered.
  • Maintain database while keeping regular back-ups.
  • Maintains confidentiality of program data.
  • Assist in validation of beneficiaries’ lists, PDMs, DDMs, MPM and other field validation activities.
  • Conduct translation written tasks of the tools, questionnaires, surveys, etc
  • Any other tasks as requested by the line management.

Responsibility to the Project implementation .

  • Preparing the project implementation plan
  • Support planning, implementation and follow-up of evaluations by: writing terms of references, preparing project summaries, 
  • Track outputs and expected results of the project and the extent of completion of various activities at monthly basis .
  • Ensure the achievement of results and outputs necessary for development and humanitarian response according to the needs of local communities.
  • Develop and design information management systems resulting from monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning activities, such as progress reports, databases and complaint mechanisms.
  • Prepare and process progress and delay indicators for the project on a monthly basis and work out suitable solutions.
  • Field survey, verification, evaluation and data analysis

The role of the MEAL Assistant   is not limited to the specific duties mentioned above. It is subject to change with the evolution of the conflict and in accordance with YGUSSWP’s vision and mission. As such, the MEAL Assistant   is required to manage all unforeseen issues and circumstances in relation to the monitoring and evaluation and should remain adaptable to perform responsibilities that may not be mentioned above, as and when required. 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Bachelor Degree in information technology, statistics, business administration, or other discipline relevant to MEAL.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Experience in designing and conducting training sessions and workshops.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Strong knowledge of project cycle management and M&E.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent English language skills.
  • Strong experience in management of data collection and analysis tools .
  • Ability and willingness to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and building positive relationships with colleagues and supervisors.

Desirable:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Flexible and able to work well under pressure
