  • Duty Station: Marib Governorate (Sirwah and Harib Al Qaramish districts)
  • Department: Health & Nutrition Programs 
  • Reporting to: Senior Health Officer

Job Description 

The GP/Field Health Supervisor will be responsible for covering the medical doctor duties inside the HF and coordinating, consolidating and ensuring smooth implementation of the project and activities, monitoring and supervising all health activities in the targeted health facilities through monitoring the health workers and Community Health Volunteers (CHVs). He \ she will work under direct supervision of the Senior Health Officer to whom regular reports and certain data should be submitted. The Health Field Supervisor will represent RDP and actively participate in the coordination processes with Local Authorities, DHO, local representative and other stakeholders at the sub-district level.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • According to internationally accepted standards, ensure high quality clinical care based on analysis of relevant and available patient history/records, appropriate physical exam and investigations to provide accurate diagnosis (or diagnoses), treat/refer accordingly and prevention (helped by clinical examination and available laboratory services) and ensure patient follow-up.
  • Ensure proper implementation of comprehensive primary health care in the clinic/facility/hospital with protocol and procedure in place.
  • Implement standard sterilization practices and ensure implementation of MoH and WHO standards in the project.
  • Adhere to international drug usage protocols.
  • Track daily patient data using tally sheets or other tools provided and submit patient data as required according to RDP protocols.
  • Provide health education to patients and community members concerning their diagnoses, healthy diets, physical activity, hygiene promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Order laboratory tests and refer patients to district and governorate hospitals when needed.
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
  • Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensure that all allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing medication/treatment.
  • Provide advice to patients for lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health or help to treat the health issue they are experiencing.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all health information privacy laws.
  • Work closely with Senior Health Officer to achieve program's objectives and targets effectively and efficiently.
  • Be responsible for the health workers and Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) in targeted health facility and manage HF activities in identifying and verifying the most vulnerable beneficiaries.
  • Provide technical support for health workers inside the targeted health facilities for provision of Health Minimum Services Package (MSP)
  • Day to day monitoring of health workers to ensure adhering to the technical guidelines.
  • Assist in the coordination meetings and awareness sessions at the community level.
  • Ensure project indicators are met, meeting beneficiaries to get their feedback about service rendered.
  • Report on a daily basis the health workers achievement using RDP reporting tools.
  • Sensitize beneficiaries of the complaint and feedback mechanism (CFM).
  • Participate in conducting situational analysis as necessary under the guidance of the Senior Health Officer.
  • Collect and compile project data regularly and submit them to the Senior Health Officer, including but not limited to statistical reports, case studies, narrative reports and success stories.
  • Conduct regular and spot check physical count of medical and non-medical items.
  • Provide technical assistance on health aspects to field team.
  • Comply with RDP policies and procedures with respect to code of conduct, child protection, equal opportunities, security and safety, and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Commit to the humanitarian principles of strict neutrality, religious and political impartiality and non-discrimination.
  • Perform any other related tasks as required. 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • University degree medicine is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 1 year work experience, with 6 months of work experience in the field with NGOs. 
  • Native Arabic with good English, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent computer skills particularly in Microsoft Applications.
  • Ability and willingness to stay at the field.
  • Flexible, adaptable, able to improvise and work in stressful, volatile environment
