ABOUT FMF: 

The Field Medical Foundation (FMF) has been operating in Yemen for since 2012 during even the most dangerous peak of the conflict in the region. Our staff of dedicated professionals and passionate volunteers are the helping hand that delivers aid from local and/or international partners to those who require it the most, in a country that was already suffering before the war. Today we have helped humanitarian aid reach the hands of more than 9 million vulnerable people in Yemen to help them not only to survive but also to rebuild their lives. We aim to provide a comprehensive approach to providing aid through interventions, which is why we work in almost all sectors of international emergency relief.

MAIN OBJECTIVE AND JOB SUMMARY:    

The Prevention and Risk Mitigation Assistant will play a critical role in implementing prevention and risk mitigation activities in the targeted locations. Working closely with the humanitarian team, the assistant will contribute to the development and implementation of strategies, programs, and initiatives aimed at reducing risks and preventing harm to vulnerable populations. The assistant will actively engage with communities, and stakeholders to promote awareness, build capacity, and foster resilience.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct assessments to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities within target communities.
  • Analyze data and information to understand the underlying causes and dynamics of risks.
  • Regularly update risk profiles and contribute to the development of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support the design, implementation, and monitoring of prevention programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver awareness-raising campaigns on key issues, such as protection, conflict prevention, gender-based violence (GBV), child protection, and community safety.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to build the capacity of community members, and stakeholders on risk reduction and prevention measures.
  • Actively engage with community members, promoting their active participation in risk reduction and prevention activities.
  • Facilitate community dialogue sessions to identify local risks, concerns, and potential solutions.
  • Mobilize community members to take collective action and implement community-led prevention initiatives.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and integrated approach to risk mitigation and prevention.
  • Draft and contribute to regular weekly and monthly reports.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • A high school degree or any other relevant subject or any related field.
  • 2 years of experience working with I/NGOs, particularly in Case Management.
  • Strong experience working in protection in humanitarian/recovery, complex and volatile contexts.
  • Knowledge of access to services and referral mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with case management principles, standards, and procedures.
  • Strong experience with monitoring tools and systems relevant to case management.
  • Experience in mainstreaming protection concepts within a humanitarian operation.
  • Strong organization, collaboration, representation, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of the area of responsibility and understanding of local communities and customary rules.
  • Excellent observation, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong knowledge and skills of computer and prior experience working with smart data collection tools such as KOBO.
  • Readiness to commit and adhere to the values, mission, and vision of FMF.
  • Be available for regular training provided by FMF and support in identifying staff training needs.
  • Respect the confidentiality of data and information.
  • Attention to detail and ability to communicate professionally and effectively - practical and problem-solver.
  • Ability to deal with heavy work pressure.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
